Restaurant Estrella del mar, La Paz

been there a few times over the years, great location, so so food, tourist trap

went anyway tonight to see one of my favorite waiters who recently joined the crew there

cute girl takes order for beer
Pacifico
I am happy
5 minutes later a guy asks for my drink order
told him, I ordered Pacifico with the girl
"We don't have Pacifico"
I am no longer happy
I joke with the waiters about the food and order Rib-Eye supposed to be very good)
medium rare
almost an hour and 3 beers later I get a cold steak
now I am peeed
I send it back (won't mention the other un-edibles on the plate)
comes back hot, but as a medium
have to invent a new word to fit my emotions
I eat it anyway because I am hungry
its a lousy steak at gourmet prices
not even the house dog would take the rest of the steak
(can steak be that bad?)

they offer a free coffee or desert for the botched food
why would I wait endless for bad coffee?

no gracias - never again!

In case you missed it
Restaurant Estrella del Mar, La Paz
have a beer and enjoy the view
but don't get exposed to the kitchen

When it was Stellas - it was good.
Now with new management - it is horrible.
Too bad for such a great location!

Pics? Not the steak, the cute girl!

Good to see that you are getting around town a bit, the leg must be getting better.

by the time my food arrived it was so dark that I could hardly see my steak
so, no food pics

Complain, complain. Bad doctors, bad food, bad service, bad air...Maybe time to move on? Oh yeah..no money for a bus ticket outta here. You are the prototypical white dude that locals here despise and give the rest of us bad representation of who we actually are.

We ate there a few months ago and agree that the service and quality are not what it used to be. Great location (unless the wind's blowing) but I won't be going back until I hear it's gotten the act together.

BTW, who orders steak at a sea food restaurant?

Back when it was Club Racing there would be 500 people on a Friday night, now they can't figure out how to serve a few dinners, the prices are 5x and they only hire people from outside the area?#$%@!

Just a little hard on Harald, aren't ya? Obviously not about his dining experiences alone.

Dude has had positive experiences and posts them. And less than positive which is luck of the draw.

Doesn't look like a problem to me. Why the cheap shots?

Hi, do most of you eat at places right off the Melecon or on it? I’m coming down again but I mostly ate at La Fuente, I love raspados and paletas, or street carts.
This time I thought I would actually go to restaurants.
Thank you
Yes, I’m new, just registered.

welcome Mother of Dragons! Very cool name BTW

We highly recommend Maria California restaurant. Really good food and neat atmosphere, the wait staff get profit sharing.

Harold!!!!! Please share the good food place since we are on our way to La Paz next week!

Come visit La Bocana
