Hotel San Cristobal Todos Santos

Coveteur magazine - which I admittedly do not read - posted this article about "5 unexpected destinations to travel with your [significant other]". It lists Todos Santos as one of these destinations, but quickly focuses on Hotel San Cristobal, which "has that high-design, hipster feeling". Say what?

Why do you bother with this Mierda? No houses have been built! and San Christobal and Jazmango....no locals! And you are too late to the party down here, sadly. Real estate is off the chart in Cerritos and Las Tunas, Peskys. It's crazy you post all this BS from Massachusetts. Thankfully, a beer or Coctail and Herb and we don't even see it. If I were you I would look into....:o:cool:

Tio - I was looking at Todos Santos as a potential retirement home, but it's very different from the place I first "discovered" 11 or 12 years ago and continue to visit each winter. So I don't think of my posts as BS as much as observations of what I've seen both up close and online.

Articles like this comes around like a broken record. Writing that Todos has the ''same charming feel'' as Tulum is, well, nonsense.

Fluff and fantasy sells and people are buying. Hope there's a market for Cristobal. Rancho Pescadero doesn't seem to be lacking in tourist dollars.

As for being late to the party, it's never too late. Buy when you can, Paul. Prices are going up but have been for the 20 years I've been in these parts. It's still affordable and good.

Oh, and no ''h'' in Cristobal.

US Marines: providing enemies of America an opportunity to die for their country since 1775.

What I say before any important decision.
F*ck it.

Nailed it. Find somewhere that *you* are comfortable with and can afford, that's all that matters.

Travel/blog writers need to write SOMETHING in order to get paid. Todos Santos instead of Tulum? That's apples and oranges. Nonsense. This type of writing is for people who have never been to Tulum or Baja.

Most travel writers are full of malarkey and are "paid off" by the places they are writing about. (free stays and meals or just cash) so I never believe 95% of what they write...

Since I've given up all hope, I feel much better

I don't believe in anything they write unless I have already been there and experienced it myself. Believe it or not, there are a few "bloggers" on this site making pretty decent coin, you just need to figure out who they are is all and how/why they are making that decent coin for really no good reason except managing to get paid for doing nothing except living the dream on others money.

Lee - I haven't given up on Pescadero. And to Tio's point, I shouldn't pay attention to the San Cristobals of the today, which could very well become the Tequila Ranches of the future. When they're gone, the sun and the waves will still be there.

There were one or two first-hand "Modern Elder Academy" articles a few months back that got recycled several times using the same sources with different by-lines in different places on the web. It gives the perception of widespread coverage but is really just lazy journalism. Let the reader beware...

Exactly... As I said, it's lazy people pulling info from Google, review sites etc, re-posting it as if they have been there with writing their reviews and making decent coin from it. I just rely on word of mouth from trusted friends, friend of friends etc... There's a few on this site that do it and laying around living the dream from the money they make from never even being there...
