the big old house of Rancho San Miguel (Los Corrales)
many of you have been to the ruins of the beautiful Casona (big house) at San Miguel - the one with the water canals
does anyone ever take a picture of the water basin a 1/10 of a mile north of the house?
Looking for a built date
the water basins usually have a date
maybe the house has one and I missed it

in the old days companies pretty much "owned" their workers
in Baja only pearling and mining required a large workforce
the companies usually supplied food (sometimes housing like in Santa Rosalia) for their workers
as good capitalists they did not buy food from local sources - they rather produced their own large scale
Boleo in Santa Rosalia had to feed at least 10,000 people - so they established about 50 larger ranchos for crops and cattle. All have extensive water
systems and large Pilas. 3 of those ranchos had large main houses (Casonas).
All built around 1920
Casona San Bruno 27° 9'33.70"N, 112° 9'48.69"W
Casona San Miguel 28° 5'41.34"N, 112°50'6.99"W
Casona Pedro Altamirano (Prosperidad) 27°49'18.71"N,
113°14'6.61"W
good examples for cattle operations are:
Rancho El Carricito 27°27'53.98"N, 112°50'36.99"W
for crops:
Rancho Las Lagunas 27°38'41.02"N, 112°39'6.01"W
Rancho El Caracol 27°41'36.69"N, 112°42'55.06"W
and there are a number of ranchos from missionary times that were utilized by the French
Boleo established ranchos up to 80 miles away from Santa Rosalia
they were most active up to 60 miles

Sorry no pictures. I tried to go to Casona San Miguel 2 months ago but was stopped by a locked gate and no trespassing signs warning of video
surveillance. Too bad I had heard that there are stained glass windows and other really interesting features at that old rancho.
Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60
Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.

Harald, do a search... Nomads 'The squarecircle', 'TMW', perhaps 'John M' & 'geoffff', and others (I thought you) have taken photos at San Miguel
big house. Their reports may be listed under Los Corrales rather than San Miguel?

Here you go. I've been trying to find out about this place for years. This was in the large cistern that seemed to feed the aqueduct. I maxed out the
contrast in PS from the cheap little compact I had at the time, but still can't make out the name. I really want to go back there. If you find out
more, please let me know.

1916 was a big year for Boleo, it seems? The date is on the building at Prosperidad, right?

so yes, Casona San Bruno, or Hacienda San Bruno, is a Boleo creation.
