Bahia Asuncion Update
I must admit I never thought I would see a seawall built in Bahia Asuncion in my lifetime! And in a matter of a few short months it is done and the
inauguration was a few days ago! It starts at our Beach House and goes all the way along the town beach area. The palms they planted to replace the
ones that got washed out in a hurricane swell a few years ago look fantastic although seem to be a bit close to the wall and the stairs are beautiful
too.
We havent had a big wet storm in a few years...lots of discussion whether this wall will actually protect the beachfront properties or will just break
up in a hurricane swell.
After a couple long months of wind out here on the central Pacside, more sand dunes have built up on the highway about 20 minutes out of Vizcaino and
before the turnoff to Asuncion. They are in places where there usually arent dunes and can sneak up on you if you are going too fast....which most
people do as the road is so smooth with no potholes.
The village is looking pretty dapper with all the flowers in bloom on the main street too...ready to welcome visitors now that the windy season is
almost over!

How deep does the wall go? Is it like 2/3 below the sand and 1/3 above?

Bummer for old folks or handicapped unless there is a ramp as well as all those stairs?
One of photo links did not work. The one just before the sand covering the highway.
Hope to come back down with Elizabeth and just relax in the Dolphin or Rock Room!

Perhaps Rossman can fill in some info as he watched the project from beginning to end...seems to me that unfortunately the wall does not have a real
deep foundation so it will be interesting to see how well it holds up in the next big hurricane swell...sure looks nice though and real uptown with
those big palms! Swanky!
I love the idea of a boardwalk and hope that is what it will be instead of cars driving on it now.
David...It will be much easier now on those wide stairs to carry a wheelchair down instead of scrambling down an uneven, unstable sand bank.

In Mexico, and i guess in every other part of the world, the real business in building with public money it's the maintenance.
I know a guy whose company was in charge of maintenance of the Rosarito-Ensenada highway and retired as a very wealthy person. Meanwhile the road its
still falling apart.

Off Topic.... Shari I never properly thanked you for the fresh sashimi platter you made for myself and Big Ron and Butch back in November. We stopped
in our off road buggies on the bluff by your house and you came over and offered to make us some fresh fish.

I forgot to mention that we have a wonderful masseuse in Bahia Asuncion now too...very economical and professional!
