La Paz airports
La Paz has seen tremendous growth in the past
interesting are the airports - the growth of the city keeps pushing them out
#1 was used until 1952 (new seat of the government was built there)
#2 was in service until 1965 (now also housing government offices and a hospital)
#3 Manuel Márquez de León International Airport, has just undergone a major facelift
I think, it will last for a while
interesting for David are the visible traces of the San Antonio Road (ECR)

Not sure why there aren't international flights from LA to La Paz.
La Paz is turning into my favorite city in MX. We are gonna be down there again in 2 weeks.

main reasons are capitalism and quarterly reports
rather than betting on a growing tourism market in La Paz (it is not doing well) the airlines leave it to the few brave to shuttle to and from Los
Cabos
I remember flying from Sacramento to La Paz for $250 rt
But Mexicana Airlines went under soon after (capitalism)
wonderful airline - clean and effective as Lufthansa
every other year the Mexican lobbyists talk one of the US carriers into servicing La Paz. They never last longer than 6 months

4x4, I am sort of surprised you haven't posted a photo of the bent and twisted tower on the ridge at the south side of the city. Happened during
Odile.
Or how about the amazing bridge that is now finished across the arroyo up 286 to Los Planes?
They did an amazing job with that. Hurricane Newton being the culprit if I recall correctly

and remind the viewers that Alaska cancelled their LA directs in about 2013-14 but there is a chance that they may return.
When Cabo is 90f in July and La Paz is 102f it is a bit difficult to convince tourists to come

Until fairly recently, Alaska airlines flew into La Paz, but now it is either Loreto, or Cabo, and a drive! There appear to be direct flights to LAP
from Canada, but none originating in the US.
Edit; I just read the post that was a couple of minutes before mine, and 2013-14 was about when I saw AK airplanes flying overhead.

Odile had way stronger winds as we know but only dropped about 3-5 inches of rain. Newton was Cabo to almost 30" and 15" in L a Paz and Northwards

In 1966, when my folks and I drove by, the airport was south of town about 3 miles and the pavement ended about 5-10 miles from town.
Looking at Senterfitt's books (Airports of Baja California):
1971 edition calls the new location (closer to your place) "a brand new airport" and the former location is the military airfield (1973 updated).
The 1967 edition shows only the one, older airport to the south:

Yes, and as many a Socal/LP area person knows the Otay- TJ airport crossing is a great feature in getting to LP. Direct flights numerous times a day
