Helicopters are Great for the Rich and Famous

Just ask Billionaire Chris Cline how cool it is to zip across from the Bahamas.

Or Not ?

One never knows how soon they may go boom.

Trail of Missions is the tour hosted by Cameron Steele and the "Desert Assasins" (as he calls his off-road racing fans). The idea was to have a tour for wives and children to enjoy along with the men who are the ones who typically do the motorcycle tours Cameron has hosted for a few years now (and are on TV, too): Rip to Cabo, Baja Beach Bash, etc. Trail of Missions was designed to combine history with off-road adventure, to share that Baja has more than just dirt roads and beautiful beaches to enjoy.

The first Trail of Missions tour was in 2014 and while Cameron was researching for that tour is when he contacted me the first time as he learned I was the "mission guy" from a mutual friend, Kevin Ward (Dust to Glory film producer). Cameron had me join the first tour for the three days that he had the helicopter along. Jim McCoy is the helicopter owner/pilot who has been hired by Score and various off-road racing teams for photography/ filming shots. I lectured at the two mission sites the group visited when I was with them, and got on a minute or two of the TV show (CBS Sports that year) made from the tour.

I flew with Jim from El Cajon to San Vicente, where I got into Cameron's Raptor and two guys from the TV film crew got into the helicopter. On the third day, when the copter was ready to head back from Mission San Fernando to El Cajon, I got back into it. The tour continued on, ending at Cabo San Lucas. Cameron has hired me to design trips after that and for this year, hired me to come along on the 6-day recon trip to guide them to new sites so the tour/show could have different places to see for 2019.

I posted a full report with a ton of photos taken from in the helicopter over Baja as well as from inside the three vehicles I rode in, June 2014: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=74324

Here is my trip report for the recon trip, last May: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=92768

I thought a few here on Nomad may like seeing a helicopter land next to Baja Cactus, that's all. Just sharing what I saw on Facebook about a place many Nomads have stayed at or admire for the help Antonio provides all who need it.

How about posting some of your own stuff and see if anyone likes it? Ignore mine if it isn't your thing. :light:

Anyone needing a knowledgeable guide who knows Baja and has an extensive lifetime of experience exploring the Baja peninsula would be hard pressed to find a more capable person than David. As many on this forum can confirm, there is no one who provides more helpful advise to new Baja travelers wanting to enjoy the Baja experience.
Keep up the good work David. The vast number of us on this forum who have had the benefit of your experience appreciate it. And yes, the maps are also very helpful.

No one brings the wealth of info and detail to the forum that DK provides.
We occasionally have our little differences, but by and large David is the best thing that ever happened to Doug's little family gathering.
I also appreciate the great photos that StuckSucks pops up with when the brain dead posters try to impose junk on our board.
Right on guys!!
