Film- Sea of Shadows

I saw an interesting Nat Geo film named Sea of Shadows. A documentary of the blight of the vacita in limited release in southern California. It shows the ploblems from illegal fishing, political corrupion, cartels running the smuggling and financing the fishermen. From watching the film I came away saddened at the failure of the Mexican government to inforce any laws or do any investigation. If you can find a theater that is showing the film it is worth it. Lots of great Nat Geo footage of Baja.

Glad to hear that you are going to see the film the more eyes on the problem the better. Talk it up , I hope it gets the same reaction as " The cove" did for the killing of dolfins in Japan. But it won't no bloody coves to startle the public, just a line of corruption.

I think the vaquita is doomed. But if its plight, as documented by this film, could begin a movement to help end corruption in the Mexican natural resources departments, it may be worth it. That's a sad thing to say, but it may save many more species from the same fate.

I watched it last week at the Arclight theatre in Hollywood. It was pretty well done.
