San Quintin TR

Last weekend (Labor Day) A friend and I flew to Campo de Lorenzo for the weekend. We cleared thru Encinada (1 hour and $145, $100 was the Multi permit so I'm good the rest of the year) no problemo and on to Lorenzo's airstrip, minimal amount of coastal fog/overcast. The strip was a bit soft but very manageable in a C180.

Ate at the Old Mill fantastic food a bit pricey but excellent. Temps were in the mid 80's and humid. The flight back was as good or better cleared Ensinada again ($20) and then into Brown Field. Port of entry at Otay looked like it was a 5 hour wait at 2pm. Left San Quintin at 11am got home to Hesperia at 4pm.

David I've got a few on my phone I'll try and post them.

dpf33a Thanks for the tip. I prefer landing on dirt. I can get stopped in 300-500 ft and get off in 600-800 fr depending on weight. And I had (free) accommodations at a house right next to the strip.

Made another trip to Campo de Lorenzo this last weekend to do a little house cleaning. The trip thru customs this time was much cheaper this time $5 each way. No passenger so no visa. Next time some fishing.

is Campo Lorenzo a permitted strip? Just wondering with all the buzz about serious issues about foreign planes landing on unlicensed strips.

I received 5 photos and a video this morning, and based on the content, I will presume it is from Glidergeek. Here are the 5 photos:

First picture is of the casa that I stayed out with my friend Doris and her dog

The first pic is northbound halfway between San Quintin and Ensenada
Second pic is self explanatory

Yes it is...there was a guy here at the campo with a nice Cherokee that has a place across the bay at Pedregal and he said he couldn't land at Pedregal since the strip isn't currently licensed.
