Change is start route

**** last minute news ****

For the recorded rains of Tuesday and Wednesday night, the route of the Baja 1000 2019 suffered a drastic change.

Director of municipal transit, noted that it will not pass through the Ensenada Creek. The start of the competition was changed, they will come out of Avenue Riveroll until they reach Amber Street, they will bend along the same Amber Street and will turn around the corner of the seven eleven on Ruiz Street, to follow the normal route.

Take your precautions because they pass for the first time in the streets of the center area, especially to merchants and the untraseuntes.
These locals will suffer from dissatisfaction, since for two days there will be economic losses through closed streets.

This Baja 1000 2019 will have as a goal in the port, since the streets will open until Sunday in the morning.

Be more on the slope these days on social networks, share this post.

Races:
Friday November 22th.

Departure:
Bikes 3:00 am.
Cars: 10:30 am.

So... they will in fact depart from the usual location but head off to the north to Riverol then head east to (I think they mean) AMBAR street.

Would that be accurate?

Drove to Ensenada and back on Wednesday.
Rain was heavy from west of Valley Trinidad to west of Ojos. The muddy roads in the city were noted caused by overflow ditches. The Highway was ok except for minor rock falls.

silly that these offroad race vehicles cant race when there is a little water :P

responsible drivers would follow the ethical practice of not running the roads when saturated, as saturated unpaved road beds are ruined by wheeled traffic.
Is race promoter going to blade and recompact the road beds after the racers tear up the muddy roads? No, they never have and never will.

Responsible racers/promoters would delay the race and run it only after roads have drained and are not saturated.

I sure hope they bypass the Rancho Las Truchas area too, that could wreak havoc on the trout population.

I saw it mentioned on the other thread, the Baja 1000 start is delayed for 24 hours due to wet conditions and to repair washed out areas of the course. As mentioned, racers do chew up the dirt roads they use, but Nature is far more destructive and actually destroys roads in Baja!

From www.score-international.com

Weather forces 24-hour delay to the start
of BFGoodrich Tires 52nd SCORE Baja 1000

Three days of rain makes significant portion of 800.5 rugged race course impassable;
Motorcycles/quads start at 3 a.m. (PT) on Saturday, cars/trucks/utvs at 10:30 a.m.(PT) Saturday

SCORE Live Streaming– Start Line, Finish Line, with announcers Rat Sult, Karlina Hirales
AND live Vehicle Tracking throughout the race at www.score-international.com

ENSENADA, Mexico—For just the third time in the storied history of the Granddaddy of all Desert Races, SCORE race officials have been forced to delay the start of the BFGoodrich Tires 52nd SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts by 24-hours to Saturday morning in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico because of inclement weather.

SCORE COMMENTS
“Ensenada and the surrounding areas of the Northern part of the Baja California peninsula have been inundated with more than four inches of rainfall over the last three days which has forced us, in the interest of safety, to delay the start of the race by 24 hours,” stated Jose A. Grijalva, SCORE President and race director. “With the storm having passed through, we want to give our racers the opportunity to pre-run on Friday to make their final preparations for the race.
“The course is rugged enough without all of the rain this week making several parts impassable because of flooding and standing water. We have numerous crews out on the course identifying the worst sections that we will bypass or repair as best we can. This will be one of the most challenging races in the history of the world’s greatest desert race.”

Race postponed 24 hours

Hello again!

For only the 3rd time in its legendary 52 year history, the start of the SCORE Baja 1000 will be delayed by 24 hours until 3 am on Saturday morning when the first of the motorcycles will roar into history.

Over the past several days, the first major storm of the rainy reason pummelled Baja California with up to 4 inches of rain. As of noon today when the cold front finally moved on, there were still sections of Ensenada underwater. Besides the race start delay, the drivers meeting that was slated for 7 pm tonight will also be moved to 7 pm on Friday night.

By delaying the race for 24 hours, that will not only give the sun some time to work its magic, but drivers can prerun parts of the course and see what challenges the rains have left for them to face during the real race. This will also give SCORE officials the opportunity to repair certain sections of the course or resort to alternative routes in order to avoid the most hazardous parts entirely.
Over the past several days, I have admired the accuracy of Accuweather's Minutecast.

As I needed to be out and about when it wasn't raining iguanas and Gila monsters, I appreciated not getting drenched during the middle of my activities. In fact, the forecasts were so good that my Chihuahua Galan Siki Cota managed to stay dry each and every time that he accompanied me.

While I could be wrong, I sensed that SCORE's announcement generated a huge sigh of relief across Ensenada from the racers looking to finish high in their class to the pit crews keeping the vehicles rolling to the officials that are tasked with protecting the racers, pit crews and also the spectators. Whether or not people agree with me on this one, at least everyone was happy when the sun finally showed its face, in all its glory, this afternoon!

Until next time!
