Mexicali West or East Northbound
Hi All,
I used the new West crossing heading south in March of this year (2019), it was a breeze, FMM office right there on the left. I also used the West
heading back to the US, the road off of Calazada de los Presidentes smashed right through were the old wall was and into the SENTRI Lane.
I was going to do that route again this weekend but I am seeing on both Google and Apple maps that the access road I took of of Calazada de los
Presidentes is marked off as closed and noted on Google Maps as closed until early December.
Anyone have any first hand knowledge if it is closed, maybe they are doing boarder crossing construction again.
Lastly, I've never take the Eastern Crossing, going North or South. Looking at Google Street View, it does look like it has less congestion.
Going back to the US using the East Crossing is it better to approach the entrance from the East, making a right turn to the Sentri Lane or from the
West, making a left into the Sentri Lane?

I’ve crossed vía the west crossing several times in the last couple months, standard lanes and on Sunday vía Sentri lane for the first time. If
you hit the border fence just east of the crossing, ie coming from the east crossing, and turn west, it will put you in line for both regular and
Sentri.
When you get close stay left and the first indication I saw was a medical lane sign, follow that. Right there the road becomes divided by a concrete
barrier. Stay left of the barrier and you’re in the Sentri lanes. If you stay right along the fence I don’t believe there is any way to get into
the Sentri lanes from there.

Mexicali East crossing going North:
Approach from the west if using sentri or ready. Use approach from the S and east if using a regular crossing.
If you have a trailer you must cross east crossing using standard lane.
Ready lane is the most congested. Sentri is the least congested. Regular lane varies a lot could be the best or the worst.
Mexicali west crossing going north:
Way to much city traffic for my taste. Most time I have a trailer in tow so East regular is my only choice.

Sounds like the old route to the West border crossing, but this time it sends you south of the old crossing and into the new west border crossing. I
caught a video on Youtube that shows construction all over the MX side of the new West crossing. Looks like heading south out of the West will also
be detoured.
I think I will try out the East crossing both up and down this time.
