Island on the "northern tip"? What are you referencing? There are a couple rocks, but not an island.

Are you talking about to the West?

Are you talking about Isla Coronado or the Coronado Islands?

Edit: you must be talking about BoLA. I've always referred to that as Smith Island, not Isla Coronado. All boaters think of Isla Coronado as the island in Loreto.

It took me a while to figure out which Isla Coronado you were referring to. There is one by Loreto. There is a group of islands referred to as Islas Coronado by Tijuana and there is Isla Coronado (aka Isla Smith) Bahia de Los Angeles which is the one in your photo.

I have a map from the Biosfera Bahia de Los Angeles which names most of the islands. I'm not sure that small one is listed, but I will check when I get home.

Islas Coronado (a group of 4 islands) close to Tijuana
Isla Coronados (name going back to the Jesuits) close to Loreto
Isla Coronado (or Isla Smith) close to Bahia de los Angeles

4X4 - I think you are referring to Isla Mitlan - there is a beautiful channel that runs between it and Isla Smith (aka Coronado) - At the end of the channel there is a giant rock with an osprey nest on top that has been used for decades - so Isla Roca Osprey sounds good to me! Do not try to cut through the channel between Mitlan and Roca Osprey as there is a shallow reef there. Sail boats sometimes anchor near the rock.

My bad - somehow I read southern tip - and that was as close as I could come. Coronadito is absolutely correct!

Harald, in your third post in this thread, and satellite image, you say "looking from the south" ???
This may be a confusing bit of wording and why the various comebacks?

Your Google Earth image is taken while looking from the NORTH of the island and looking TO the south.

Usually, Google Earth and maps in general always have north at the top. When they are not oriented that way, some big-note or compass showing the way it is facing, would help. :light:
