Fire at La Misión burned all the way to the ocean

Fire in La Misión . The fire east of La Mision burned all the way to the coast during the night, driven by high winds. Devastation along the north side of the river. Homes all burned. Friends are on the beach in the dark with their horses. Hoping that human lives are safe.

I am going to La Rumorosa to pick up my horse trailer and maybe try to get to La Mision with it. I expect there may be too many obstacles though: Hot spots still burning, road blockages, police barricades, power outages so no gasoline pumps, poor communications, and my mobile phone doesn't work in Mexico. Not sure what I can help with. I won't be able to provide updates from Mexico.

No gas in La Mision that I recall seeing.. So, get gas in Puerto Nuevo or Cantamar. Thanks for helping them! Graham Mackintosh was there and he just left yesterday for his next adventure. I tried messaging him on his satellite device.

Some posts on facebook, toll road closed last night at La Fonda, not sure if open now. evacuations several places
Looks like big fire started in mountains east of La Mision
and burned all the way to the coast in some areas.
Another smaller fire at Real del Mar on coast south of Tijuana.
Another fire reported in Tecate
Another north of San Antonia de la minas

@ K77 Bajamar, the mision of homes by the golf course was evacuated to the clubhouse for a period of time. Golf course sprinklers were used again, spot fires were extinguished by our security guys all night long.

Use Libre and old stagecoach road to sneek around toll road closure

Wow, that's just south of my roommate's place. Hopefully not too many homes were lost. There are a lot of poor families living up that valley, been to a couple clothing/shoe donations at Magana's.

Hoping to see something on the local news about the Baja fires (Chs. 10, 8, & 7 have 11 o'clock news)... However, no, as there is a fire right now between Ramona and Santa Ysabel, south of the 78. There was also a small fire last night in San Marcos, but they snuffed it out quickly. The big fires in L.A. area are also mentioned ('Tick' and 'Old' fires).

Well, why would you hear about the Baja fires? Most americans could give a flying ef' about anything that doesn't effect them directly and much less about Mexico burning.
