Harald, the track you posted leads to the top of Zamora. Based on studying satellite images and topographic maps plus what I have read on various
forums, Peralta (Or Perita in the Almanac) has a better chance of going through. Basically heading northwest at:
30.10168, -114.68319
Have you poked around up there? There is an old mining road that ends at:
30.144878, -114.800060

Thank you for the clarification. I was misreading the map. The one I am talking about is an offshoot of Peralta. Might be called Canon de Huerfanita.

I found something pretty cool while poking around in Google Earth. It looks like there is an oasis in Arroyo Placer de los Peralta (*correction). It
appears to be about 160 feet long and 80 feet wide with quite a few palm trees as well. Hard to know if it's accessible but I'm going to put it on my
bucket list!

Is using the Terminal Canyon trail out of the question on a mule? This was how the gold/silver ore was brought down from San Juan before the cable
tram bucket line was installed. The next known trail would be the Golfo Camino Real, past El Aguaje... then turn north off the Camino Real towards Las
Flores. |
David,
Guillermo and I talked about this route over the summer. He said that the way over the mountain is less steep south of Las Flores. I don't know
exactly where and should have pulled out a topo map at the time. Darn it!

What fun to dream!
For those who want to swim with the whale sharks, hurry up and do it because it was much more difficult than I imagined it to be! We did it in La
Paz. Well, I went but can't say I was able to swim with them, they swam by me (does that count???).

I went to Cabo Pulmo last winter and was shocked at the amount of development going on there and many areas I visisted in the past are now fenced. So
I assume that area will become another Cabo San Lucas. So much for it being a "reserve" which has a dubious meaning here in Mexico.
