It just POURED here in La Bocana about an hour ago. I haven't heard rain falling in a while. I bet the desert blooms in a couple weeks.

Tried to land in a United flight on Sunday afternoon at SJD but as we approached the plane waved off from too much water. Then SJD closed down and we
landed at La Paz... only to be told to return to San Francisco. Not sure why they couldn't let us through immigration at La Paz instead. Maybe stupid
United Airlines doesn't pay their fees and taxes for La Paz? Worst day of air travel ever for us. Not only did we sit on the ground for two hours in
La Paz.... but then when we arrived back at our origin at San Francisco the United staff didn't have a clue what to do with us. Grrrr.
A full day of eating pretzels, finally reach a hotel room after 8 separate long lines at baggage, immigration, check-out & in (United). In bed at
midnight, up at 4:30am to repeat. Never fly United again. It wasn't just mother nature... but compounded by the worst service in history.

I don't know what the deal is with La Paz. It is still listed as an international airport, but I don't think any US airlines can use it for direct
flights anymore!
The last time I checked for a flight, it had to be routed through a Canadian, or mainland Mexico airport to get there.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

last evening we received a surprise deluge of torrential rain with 25 knot winds bowing it through every crevice. It wreaked havoc in the village
washing out roads, flooding nearly everyones home...but oh the flowers will be glorious next month!

I got about 0.65" in my rain gauge here in Carlsbad so far. Not sure about 3" happening today.

David, from what I can find with my feeble search skills, La Paz (LAP) is still classified as an international airport, but the only flights I can see
are domestic!
I know that Alaska Airlines flew into LAP as recently as four or five years ago, but it seems that they no longer have a customs facility there. It
does not sound like it was a decision of the international airlines to stop flying there.

I think La Paz ended international flights in 2013. That was the last year that Alaska flew there from the US, and about the time when the
international checkpoint in the baggage claim area disappeared.
Experience enables you to recognize a mistake every time you repeat it.

Re: La Paz airport. I heard from Canadian travelers that they recently flew international into LAP. Then we started wondering if most US carriers
stopped paying the fees to this airport.

To La Paz I assume you could walk across at Tijuana at take Volaris. Or... this Candian suggested coming up to Vancouver

kiterkip - you didn't say if it was a direct flight or not......
My guess would be that the Canadian travelers didn't fly direct to La Paz from Canada, but first landed somewhere on the mainland (Mexico City or
Guadalajara, for example) and went through Immigration and Customs there - then got a connecting flight to La Paz. If it was a direct flight from
Canada, well that would be a new development for La Paz.
When I fly to the US from La Paz I connect through Mexico City.

I have been searching all sorts of travel sites, and the only direct flights I have found to LAP originate in Mexico!
Any flight from airports in the US, or Canada appear to have a layover in citys such as Guadalajara (GDL), or Mexico city (MEX)
If anyone knows of some flight option I haven't found, please post it!

Did Raymond make an int'l res. from LAP to Baja NM? Sure came in gangbusters here. Big airdrop of moisture.
