CFE xoom payment issues
I have been paying my CFE bills with xoom since may. An excellent and convenient option. This month i was unable to do so. Today is the due date and
xoom shows a zero balance. Anyone have similar problems?

I have never used xoom but am going to try to set up our accounts with the CFE online app this month, for next payment.

If you have a PayPal account you are already setup. Just go to the xoom website, and sign in with PayPal. [Same company]

I was able to use Xoom one time to pay the CFE bill.
That was back two prior bills or 4 months ago.
Last billing period, 2 months ago, it was a no go.
Now just today (12-14) it still a no go with the message "no balance"
Pay by CC as referenced on the statement is a no go also (with US card) and has never worked.
I am clueless as to why

What a huge PIA. If one brings a bag of money to CFE to put on deposit for future months billing, VAT,16%, is deducted from that amount. then, when
the following months bill is paid.....you pay VAT again. A total of 32%! At least it worked that way for me.

As Don Pisto said, there is always OXXO. Although in Ensenada I am close enough to a CFE satellite outlet, and there I pay for my bill in BA. My
Ensenada place has solar and I have had a zero bill for about 1-½ years!

DaliDali and others
If you use a debit card rather than a CC...it works.
UDO - since you are not in Asuncion, can't you turn the elec off?
our bnb is on the grid but our house is off, 100% solar, and boy is it nice NOT to get a bill.
I ended up paying the bills at the western union/telecomm office since I had to go anyways to get Dayr bus money deposited.

That's not quite right Pacifico......check your statement again.
The advance payment goes to the next periods billing amount and is taxed accordingly.
The amount you have now prepaid does not appear again on the balance due.
What does appear is the current amount due and yes, another round of IVA because you consumed the product.
If you plunked down 5000 pesos in advance, that 5k is taxed and if the current billing amount is less than the 5000 P, no taxes are charged. One is
not charged taxes on a zero amount due.
However, if the future billed amount is 5350P, your going to pay taxes on 350P.
This is the way it's supposed to work anyway.

Tried this again today Blanca. Used a debit card (USA) and it's a no go.
Says "tarjeta rechazada" from the CFE link to Bancomer payment site.

Been down that road of pre-paying credits. After the second time our credits "just disappeared" (yes, we did get it all back each time) we started
paying @ Oxxo. Then a few months back I read that you can use American Express.
So for the last four billings I go online to our CFE account then pay with our Am-Ex c/c. So far no problems...I do have my Am-Ex account set-up to
text me every time there is a charge on our account.
We also use our Capital One c/c all the time in CSL. I really enjoy showing the waiters, the gas attendants, the cashiers at Wal-Mart & Costo and
Home Depot the text (from Capital One) the second they swipe the card. It is fun to see their eyes get big, they usually say "WOW that is fast!"
I did read that CFE was installing kiosk machines so people could use their debt card, instead of putting pesos into the machine when paying their
bill. Nice to see CFE going cashless...they are catching-up with the world.

I will be paying at cfe again this month due to continuing problems with xoom. I have contacted the manila call center for xoom, and one of their best
sweatshop customer service folks assure me they are looking into it.
