If tried and convicted, what would be the punishment. No death penalty in Mexico. Life without parole?

Unless things have changed since the mid 90's, the maximum sentence in Mexico is 40 years.

I was recently thinking about this investigation and whether it was still active and would ever be solved. This is really good news.

I was also thinking about the American lady who detached from her group and became lost in the San Felipe desert. Was she ever found?

Oh my gosh. This is great news. These deaths were so unnecessary.

Received word from a reporter friend from San Diego Union who says this guy was released 2 days later, lack of evidence.

I was surprised by the original post. Now, if the gossip is true, it's business as usual in Ol' Mexico.
