Scholarship student 2019 Christmas party

What a day! We had wonderful food provided by Antojitos Juanita from Punta Abreojos.

Zak Wife and Kids all came over one day to donate clothes. All of yolu who help out with a kind word, clothes, notebooks and loose leaf paper, shoes and so much more: thanks from me and all the students!

Paul Mena from Bajanomad had donated a used computer and we gave it to Lizeth. She just started college and finished her first semester with flying colors. So proud of her, it was very hard for her since the family is really close. No matter that she was so close in Santa Rosalia, the homesickness was REAL!

Each student got a London t-shirt and they loved them.

More photos of the wonderful day....

This is Ramiro Andres, you might remember that he and his best friend and roommate Alen, went to the US last year? He went north and stayed with bajanomad caj as well as another 2 sponsors took him all around San Francisco. Well, he just finished his internship and a cousin helped him find a job with a package processing company. It is exactly what he wanted! He talked to the scholarship group about his last semester internship experience and what he will be doing at his new job. Boy, I am so happy and proud of him and you all who helped and myself. Nothing short of a miracle each time a kids graduates and finds a good position!

Thanks to all who donated school material! We had notebooks and pens and pencils and loose leaf paper and 3 ring binders. Not one thing was left on the table hahaha

Last year, Mike McC brought down lots of ribbons and we used the last of them this year to wrap up the loose-leaf paper for each student. It added such a nice touch!

It was such a fun day and I have tons of photos.

Very good to see! So what is on the wish list for next year? I'll be down that way in March on my moto so I can't bring much more than cash, but I might just stop in on the way to look at udo's house...

Looks like we will be getting many visitors this year - yahoo!

Nice to hear from you ElCap! advrider!

It was one of the most fun parties for me of all of them this year. I guess with time, one becomes more organized and I just decided not to sweat the small stuff and actually enjoy the party!

I got my messages across: talked about the signs of stress and how to deal with it since it will be a life factor forever.

Talked about how lucky they are to be in college since I believe only 3% of Mexican students go. Told them they are smart and special and I fully expect millionaires when all is said and done HAHAHAHA

I talked about diet and how important it is to get those natural vitamins in. Some students got ill over and over. I hate meds so I asked them to stay healthier thru diet.

We discussed jobs and the reason why a salary is better than hourly - benefits to look for. retirement. vacation.

It took me almost 2 hours to say everything and I talk FAST. They did some writing for me on their greatest challenge and achievements last semester, I will read those when we get home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thanks everyone for every word of encouragement, for paying the entrance exams, for helping with bus money so 5 of them could come who otherwise WOULD NOT have been able to, for bringing shorts and shirts and other things to me since I cannot do it all myself!

We have a village here and I am proud and grateful to each and every one of you.

I'm thrilled that Lizeth is able to make use of a perfectly good laptop I no longer needed. I hope it treats her well!

I couldn't help but notice stickers from Tandem Coffee Roasters (good friends of ours from Portland, ME) and Barnstable Brewing, located about a mile and a half from us on Cape Cod. New England is going global!

Thank you, Blanca, for all you do...
