Graham's Island Adventure 2020. Jan. 13 to Jan. 29 (see his photos now added)

Having recently kayaked completely around Baja's largest island (Isla Angel de la Guarda, off the coast from Bahía de los Angeles), adventurist and author, Graham Mackintosh will soon be exploring the interior of the island.

His previous hike from the west coast to the east coast, and back, was documented in his fourth book, Marooned with Very Little Beer c2008.

Graham sends out location signals from his Spot device and I am one of his recipients of them. I will share here so everyone can follow along. He can send short messages out and receive, as well. So, we can be in touch with him.

I got a signal from the coast of Baja (L.A. Bay) today... Not sure if it was just a test or he is leaving for the island?

Let's all wish this 'old', red-haired Englishman GREAT success! :light:

Graham wrote four Baja adventure books, and I recommend the first one as a must-have, as all the others and Graham moving to San Diego from London are all from what happened in the first book, Into a Desert Place.

OK, Graham posted this on his Facebook page, so he is still at L.A. Bay on Sunday 1-12-20:

Getting ride out to Guardian Angel Island tomorrow and making "base camp" near Isla Estanque. Wind and sea fallen nicely. When I kayaked around Angel's 42 mile length in November had to break camp and load my kayak for two hours in the dark, paddle all day, then spend two hours making camp... and for the last week head back out for another hour to desalinate water. This time I'll have plenty of water. Don't anticipate moving more than a couple of times. Looking forward to coffee with sunrises and beer with sunsets, and lots of lazy hiking and exploring the beautiful island.

Holy schmoley....those filter pumps are $2400.00 (US $)
A good item, but probably a lot cheaper to pay a local to deliver water by boat :saint:

My first experience in Baja was kayaking the west side of Espiritu Santu for 12 days...4 people in two double Nautiraids...we carried our own water....rationing was the word of the day....
