I just asked him, will report his reply.
I am going to guess it was from the bends based on his decompression chamber mention? Maybe it wasn't operated correctly or they got it only after so
many deaths?

Message: Yes, many divers untrained. The bends. Several died at Papa Diaz. Why chamber sent to Isla in Aug 73. Story in Marooned chap 8 interviews.
