San Felipe fishing tackle?
Is there a place to buy Surface Irons and YoYo jigs in San Felipe?
I'm heading down in March and would rather purchase in person than order online.

I have never seen a fishing tackle store in SF. A friend of mine who lives ipn SF buys his gear second hand at the El Dorado swap meet. If you are in
so cal the Fred Hall fishing show is coming up, a great place to buy gear.

There is not much to be had here in SF but if you're coming thru San Diego, stop at Fisherman Landing, it doesn't get any better than that.

Squidco is better for a San Diego tackle shop. Anglers choice is good too.
Online is easiest.

If you are talking about yo-yo jigs like the old Salas 6x or Tady 45s or something like that, too bad you dont live near me, cause I never use jigs
like that anymore, and I would give them to you. I probably have a couple dozen in various weights and colors.
It's not that these lures WON'T catch fish. It's just that they take so long to drop when compared to the newer knife or butterfly style jigs with the
assist hook(s). And if you are jigging below maybe 125 feet, you can keep these newer jigs in the strike zone much longer. They still do a modified
flutter on the way down, but I wouldnt be surprised if they drop 2-4x faster than the old style jigs.
Of course, to fish below 125 feet in the San Felipe area probably means running a long ways out.........or down.
You really cant find what you want at Phoenix Fishing Supply? It's been several years since I've been there, but they had most everything back then.

i seem to recall that there is one of those Bass or Cabellas mega-stores in Phoenix...
worth a trip to check it out, even if no good lures, always lots of toys to ogle at those stores

Bass Pro in Mesa and Cabelas in Glendale neither one has much saltwater tackle.

I’ll be fishing Bufeo Gonzaga area. I have a couple Shimano flat fall Butterfly jigs, 1 Black anchovie 100g and 1 Chartreuse 130g. Will those work?
Any preferred colors? Cabelas next to me has nothing and Bass pro is limited to mostly Diamond jigs.

I think I'd get some a little heavier. 170-200g. Currents can be hellacious in that area.
I seem to get the best action on the pink and white ones and the green and gold ones. I'm talking yellowtail fishing, but I have caught groupers and
basses on them.
BTW, you can put an assist hook on a heavy duty, stainless steel ring, then attach the jig to the SS ring with a heavy duty split-ring. Then tie your
line directly to the SS ring. If you want to change lures, you simply use a split-ring plier to separate the body of the jig from the split-ring and
replace the body.
I prefer 7/0 assist hooks. Certainly no less than 5/0.

I noticed on the Angler's Choice website that they are blowing out some LARGE Shimano Butterfly jigs in the 280g and up size. Those arent too big for
lots of fish to bite. Believe they are priced at 6.99. Thats a great price. Dont think the assist hooks are included.
