E-tec are gone, no mas
Read all about it here.
I love my E-tec, have three Mercurys (1 is a Yamaha clone) but nothing matches the torque and power of the E-tec.

Good memory, wrong engine. That was the Merc, but I was the dummy that drove the top of the drive shaft thru the bottom of the pan. A day that will
live in infamy, and that SWMBO keeps reminding me every time I drag out the tool box and start walking towards the boat...….

how are these etecs?
looking for a new boat motor and there is one for sale nearby, but i am worried about them being sensitive to ethanol fuel and hard to source parts
for in MX

Etecs, people either love them or not. I am a four stroke user.
But your instincts are correct. Parts and labor would be problematic in Mexico especially it being discontinued. A much better option are the 3
Japanese brands sold and serviced everywhere in Mexico: Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha. But, I'm guessing here, you already know that.

In the end i listened to my brain and got a Honda 90 4-stroke, older carb'd model, pretty simple and reliable machine
Now when I go to the marina and look around and I notice 3/4 of the pangas running the same motor, i feel confident in my choice!

The other fav motor on pangas are the Suzukis...around the 115HP range. It also has been a very reliable motor.
