Who on here knows Oregon?
Thinking about a road trip from LA to Oregon next month.
Go up the 395N through Tahoe and come back along the coast.
10-14 days. Might tent camp 3 days.
What are the must sees?

My ex son in law is a great guy and from OR. However the only time I was there several years ago and they did not have self service gas pumps the gas
station owner/mgr would not pump gas for me. I had to go to another station. I never went back and I would not attend any family functions in that
state. Screw em they can have the place.

I could be wrong but i think now you can pump your own gas but I think highways are still 55 a few years ago I made the drive from Aberdeen to los angeles down the one, beach town after beach town full of local PD and 35 mph,
glad I did it but never again!

Coastal route from Oregon
Made a return trip from Oregon down the coast - I would consider this a must-see. Beautiful - we went from Eugene Oregon West to the ocean then turned
left!

Tell me more about this. This is exactly what we are thinking about doing
Go up through Tahoe, then on to Bend, with maybe a stop at Crater Lake before Bend.
Then 3 hrs to the coast and head South.

Just a couple of suggestions, the Columbia River Highway Multnomah Falls and the Columbia Gorge are quite spectacular. Tillamook Oregon was great,
there is a cheese/Ice Cream Factory with tasting and tours, a really good Air Museum and my wife enjoyed their Barn Quilt displays. We have spent a
fair amount of time in the Coos Bay area riding the Oregon Dunes. They go for many miles miles, our favorite campground is Hors Falls Campground, you
can ride right from your camp onto the dunes. We try to make it to Harris Beach at least once a year. If you reserve far enough in advance, you can
get a beach view campsite and there is a Ice Cream Truck that comes around in the evening. Make sure you have a good seat for the sunsets as they can
be quite impressive. JH

In Brookings, OR I like Harris Beach State Park to stay at.
Be sure to have lunch at Superfly's in town.
Gold Beach, stay at Indian Creek RV park. You and the kids take a jet boat ride up the river, it's a thrill! I think the major jet boat company is
Jerry's and can be found at the south side of the bridge.
As BajaMedic said, go to the Tillamook factory, quite an assortment of good stuff to sample!

I was told by the waitress in the restaurant there that the local people didn't like people from CA because they were running up the price of housing.
So screw OR I'm not going back and I ain't growing up.

If you are heading up from Tahoe then by all means go via Lassen N.P. From there up to Dusnmuir (stay on the back roads, don't head to 5)
At Weed head up 97 through Klamath Falls
By all means go to Crater Lake
Then head back West and over to the coast.
The Southern Oregon coast is far more spectacular than Northern.
From there, on down to the Redwoods and back to our occupied nation of California.
In the Redwoods by all means catch a few state parks, elk herds, etc.
And, the old 101 takes off for miles on something called "Avenue of the Giants" Don't miss it.

Great info. Much appreciated. It aligns pretty much with what I had been planning.
Below is the route I have been considering. It goes on the outside of Lassen N.F. But doesn't go through Dusmnuir. It does go on the 97 through
Klamath Falls and past Crater Lake. Am I missing anything by not going through Dusmnuir?
Was thinking about stopping at Crater Lake and maybe staying around there 1 night, before heading up to Bend. Then cut over to the coast. Maybe see
the 3 Sisters on the way and try to come out near Florence.
Great to hear that Southern Oregon coast is better than the Northern coast.
What are the best towns/places to stop along the Oregon coast?

I've seen a lot of pictures of the Avenue of the Giants and wanted to see it for a long time.
Looking forward to flying the drone with a birds eye view following the truck through the redwoods.
