OR coast has good beaches, nice scenic drive (though slow)
Lots of good rafting rivers to choose from.
Cascades are great, lots of areas to hike, some above timber line with summer snow fields to play on.
Bend is sort of boring, white-bread town, just retirees, and outdoorsy young people selling too much craft beer. It also gets a bit toasty on east
side of mountains in summer, so I would stick to mountains and western oregon. i only do bend in winter, spring or fall.
ashland is my favored overnight stop when doing the I5 jive from CA to WA. cool town to hang in for an afternoon/evening.
the drive from susanville up thru lava beds nat monument, klamath and ending at crater lake is nice drive

Good luck flying a drone through the Redwoods. Lots of ginormous trees to swallow up your drone.
Also, not sure how the tree huggers would appreciate the sound of the drone through such a beautiful and wonderous place of nature.

I forgot to mention, Crater Lake can get really cold even in July, bring warm clothes for the evenings.

First of all, yes indeed, it does get cold at Crater Lake
When I was a kid we camped there on my birthday, August 2.
Next morning my dad had to break the ice on top of our water bucket on the picnic table.
The Sick Goat first tells you to ignore Oregon, nothing there, then gives you bad advice later on about the wonderful place.
Go to Lassen. If you have never been there it is a shame to miss it. From there it is an easier run up through Mt. Shasta than up through the Lava
Fields (think High Desert, not very scenic)
I would not go further north on 97 than state hiway 58, which cuts across the lower Cascades to Eugene, then on to the coast out of Eugene to Florence
However (again in rebuttal to Mr. No It All) Bend is a rather cool town. Not in temperature in summer, but in ambience. Just in my view the distances
involved north of the 58 cutoff don't justify the route.
And his final comment about Oregon "beaches"
Southern Oregon is known for beautiful coast, but it is pretty rugged. Hardly beach country in the context we Californians know it.
Great country, especially in summer. Go for it!!

I believe the Park is still closed,and for sure all the campgrounds around here are still closed. Makes the fire danger alarming with all the people
illegally camping along the back roads.

Lassen website says fully open
All campgrounds will be open by tomorrow June 26
As to "illegal camping along the back roads"
if it is public land, national forest, Bureau of Land Management (need to spell that out these days) and not posted it is legal to camp.
I agree about fire danger, but you can't fix stupid.
People need to be careful with fire everywhere, legal or not.

Yes, that’s what they are talking about.
Climb the mountain too. It’s only a half day to the summit and back, maybe 2,000 ft vertical. Hike or jog up before dawn, and eat your breakfast
on summit watching the sunrise.

The Ashland area is really nice, fun twisty highway. Lots to see and explore in the historic towns and state parks along the Scenic Columbia Gorge.
The highway on the Washington Side is a little less hectic and nicely winding. Hood River and the Dalles have lots of shops and restaurants.
The Gorge is also fruit orchard, volcano and wine country. The Maryhill Winery has bought in some big name concerts in the past and features live
music each week. Really nice to relax and enjoy the view up there.
It’s a wind Mecca so lots of wind sports taking place. Also lots of other outdoor sports, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, white water rafting,
sailing, fishing, etc. There’s a fair amount of camping along the interstate, but it can be windy and noisy due to the constant train travel. There
are a few other state and commercial campgrounds near Stevenson and Maryhill that are away from the highway.
The scenery flattens out and the climate gets very hot And dry east of Maryhill. Haven’t been there in a few years, but Apparently it was the law on
the Oregon side that jockeys pumped your gas. The Biggs intersection at Maryhill will take you south to Bend.

Probably wouldn't work out for this trip, but an experienced boat guy like you would probably enjoy crossing the bar when the outgoing Columbia River
meets a strong incoming tide. I did that on a salmon charter a few years back...what a ride!

Jet boat rides on a river are for knuckle draggers. If you want to experience a river, learn to canoe/kayak, or float it on a raft with a tour
company.
Jet boats on rivers are an abomination, noisy intrusion into what should be a wilderness experience, jet boats on a river are a low-brow carnival
ride.

Lots of good advice above. The only thing I can add is that finding a campsite on the coast in the summer can be challenging. there are certainly lots
of opportunities for dispersed camping if you don't need a proper site. Have fun in our beautiful state!
If you have time to venture past Bend you can visit Hood River 2.5 hours north :-)

I have ridden in a Cigarette off shore racer across Biscayne Bay
And taught myself to kayak in the fast moving tides at La Gringa
Both were a real hoot!
And Gold Beach is not exactly a quiet little spot along the stream
That ride is great and not bothering anyone (except cellar dwellers)

Where would you suggest riding? The dunes on the coast coast would be one place.

The dunes north of Coos Bay to Winchester Bay are a dune riders Mecca and bring crowds from all States around. A friend is a Doctor at a hospital in
nearby Reedsport and their ER does a huge business in busted up riders.
No need to bring bikes or Quads, many rental places along 101.
