Whats to do around San Quintin? Day trips, etc.
Other than the San Pedro Martir area - we'll be coming after a couple days at Rancho El Coyote. I am familiar with Jardines and Molino Viejo, but
other than that - don't know much about the area.
Are there any interesting coastal dirt roads that a regular SUV can handle? Hot springs anywhere? Great places to eat - other than the two
mentioned?
Any guidance greatfully accepted. Looking to make a plan for a trip that is a few months out.
Someone on another thread mentioned a good bar on the road heading to the coast. But... other than drinking? Interesting options?

Your travel sounds like tourism. There is a pandemic! Non-essential travel is prohibited. Cannot recommend any travel stops where you might infect
the locals. Why do you think rules dint apply to you?

Hi Ted, have you been to my website for trip planning purposes?
Historical sites include the Old Mill (Molino Viejo) which is now a bar and restaurant and hotel. See the San Quintín Railroad thread/ question from
4x4abc. West from Km. 1, paved.
The old pier is just south and the old English cemetery further south is now in the center of a huge modern-era cemetery... west from Km. 5.
Cielito Lindo is a popular bar and serves meals, too. Their cracked crab is word-famous! West from Km. 11.
Mission Santo Domingo, founded in 1775 is to the north, near Colonia Vicente Guerrero and about 5 miles east of the highway at Km. 169+. It has
preserved adobe ruins and walkways.
There are the oyster farms and other aquaculture operations run by Baja Gringo (Ron) of Talk Baja fame. They are on the inner or False Bay. Go west at
Km. 193, south corner of military base.

Considering the path of Covid resurgences, I would not plan such expeditions until a stable pattern is clearly demonstrated in north America over a
several month period. ....but that is just my thinking.
I am not a fearmonger or an old lady  , but someone who
understands the risk to self and others.
Planning is sometimes the anticipation that is greater than the event.....nothing unhealthy about that.....it is the operationalizing of the plan that
is being suggested by some here.

I wouldn't call San Quintin a destination spot.
My recommendation would be to keep going to Bahia de Los Angeles.
Down there I could give you about a dozen recs on stuff to do.

Hotel Mission on the beach has a guy named Francisco that does super cool ultralight flights over the area, volcano etc for 500 pesos I think...the
pictures are really neat and he is a good guy...he was an excellent student of mine at University and has been doing this for a couple years now.
Also a visit to the restaurant at the oyster farm out at Choyero would be fun and its a beautiful area.
Wander around down by the pier by Don Eddies, have a nice meal there...fish with Juan Cook!
Go to a classic happy hour at Cielito Lindo and get all messy eating their famous crab claws.
Lots to do and see in the area...have fun!

Two must try restaurants is Eucolipto at the old mill hotel. And my all time Baja favorite Parcel Dolce about 8 miles south of San Quintin.
Day trip about 15 miles south is an old I think Ab/oyster farm that has a cool hole in the ground and cave that the seals swim up in to sleep.
Take about any of the farm roads west and work your way to deserted beaches accessible in most vehicles.

Is it really about 500 pesos? That’s reasonable compared to the $100 or so in Cabo. I have his card somewhere...

Thanks for the ideas. I think this will mostly be an eat and drink fest - with a bit of looking around in the mornings/early afternoons. Otherwise,
just old friends catching up.
Where is Parcela 12? And why all-time favorite?
