Great story about J35.
J Pod! - wife and I did a Zodiac tour out of Victoria some years ago and spent an hour or so observing J Pod. Initially the pod was in 'sleep mode'
and slowly swimming side by side in a long line. A microphone was put in the water and there was very little noise. After about 15 minutes some salmon
showed up in front of the pod and all hell broke loose. The microphone went crazy with squeaks, calls and sounds, the water was churned with splashing
and foam and things didn't end well for the salmon. After about 15 minutes the whole pod lined back up and went back into sleep mode. Fascinating and
memorable sight to behold.

long, long ago we used to capture orcas and force them to be circus acts at "parks" like seaworld...
thanks to the great efforts of whale huggers, society is now realizing that the "parks" need to be stamped out, and recognizing that keeping captive
cetaceans is a barbaric abomination against nature.

I remember this story in the news. The communication amongst whales is astounding, I think lots will be learned still. This mother whale's mourning
was felt world wide.
Whale interactions with us here in Baja is incredible too. To me, it always feels like they are sending us a message of love.
One can only hope that many females are born this year.

Our last trip for the year was grey whale watching with Kuyima (we flew home 3/1/2020 just as covid hit the fan....). Whales, including the Orcas,
are amazing creatures.
