Coco
Does anyone have any current information as to how he is doing?
A friend of mine saw about two months ago and said he was worried about his health.

Not me! I have asked about Coco on a couple of threads, but the last time I saw him was about the end of February on my way north.

I can only comment on an early March visit and he was doing good. He had a bunch of visitors when I arrived.

Coco is a unique character
Surely part of the real Baja landscape in many ways.
I feel sorry for him living in such a remote place
but that clearly has been his choice.
After many visits and chats I can assume that he is where he wants to be.
He is also a very social person, and his remote location make that pretty tough, for sure.
Finally, it is part of his "schtick" to lean on the sympathies of those who come across his path.
That is just Coco being Coco.
There are several on this board who make snide comments about our friend, doubtful that they have ever met him or even been close to his neighborhood.
And, at 80+ years, missing both legs due to diabetic issues, and in that lonely environment, well, he is doing pretty darn well IMO.

Yes, Coco's home is remote, but he gets many visitors - surely many more than I ever get. I stopped by a few years ago - had a sack of canned goods
for him. He was very appreciative. At that time, there was already a younger couple visiting with him when I arrived. We chatted for about 10
minutes or so - he showed me around - his trailers for rent, etc. Then a couple young boys (17-20?) showed up on dirt bikes. Coco seemed to know
them. People were milling about and chatting. Another 10 minutes, and a DHL delivery truck comes by. He's got something for Coco - stops for a
beer. They definitely know each other and I get the impression there are some unscheduled stops at Cocos on his run. I know it can't always be like
this - maybe some stretches where he really does get low on food and no way to get out and provide for himself and times get tough. But he has a lot
of supporters who don't forget him.

On my last stop there was a young fellow sitting with him. Apparently he is a part of a local family who looks in on him regularly.
Exercise regularly. Eat sensibly. Die anyway.

Coco use to have a two-way radio that he could communicate with the Rancho Grande store. I don't know if he still has it or not. He also had a pickup
that was outfitted with hand controls that he could drive. He is usually at the SCORE races in San Felipe and Ensenada. It may be a while before that
happens again with the virus.
My friends and I always bring food and other supplies for him when we will be in his area. I find him always interesting and fun to talk to. He can be
a rascal at times, he can be friendly or he can be grumpy. He's 80+ years old so what do you expect.
