What are you reading? Guacamole Dip!
I am reading Guacamole Dip by Daniel Reveles. This is a collection of short stories. I am on the 3rd one and all I have to say is, if you don't have
it...get it!
Incredible yarns and he really inserts such truisms about Mexico and Mexicans.
Just loving it.

All of Reveles’ Tecate “Pueblo Mágico” books are great. I had the luck to run into him a few times at the Bar Diana, quite an interesting
character.

I am currently reading Baja California Railways by John Kirchner. This book was also published by the Dawson Bookshop (#49 of the Baja California
Travelers Series). I have the original edition but not the Dawson edition. This is where I found the details on the San Quintín railroad that 4x4abc
inquired about recently.

I've been reading "Talk Dirty Spanish", by Laura Martinez and Alexis Munier, as well as "Soldiers of Salamis" by Javier Cercas. "Guacamole Dip" sounds like a fun read - as well as tasty!

I just finished listening to Clint Hill, Five Presidents. The CD version of his book. He was a Secret Service agent that worked with Ike, Kennedy,
Johnson, Nixon and Ford. I found it fascinating, especially what he had to say about Johnson, Agnew, and Nixon.
I'm starting on The Baja Feeling by Ben Hunter.

"The Border Trilogy" by Don WInslow
first book is "Power of the Dog" then two more
"The Cartel" and "The Border"
More insight into the Cartel than you ever wanted to know... scary.
Just finished "Broken" by Winslow
some Baja/Mexico
Best short story is the one in the San Diego Zoo that starts out "No one knew how the chimp got the gun"
Hard to beat an opening line like that one

Try BajaHaha by Fred Hoctor, hilarious short stories. Also Steinbeck’s The Pearl.
Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

I think they over-emphasized the "Dirty" part of the title to make it seem as if it was a book of vulgarities, when in fact it's more about regional
colloquialisms and "colorful expressions" than anything else. So for that reason it's been fairly useful as a reference book.
