Vitamin D for Covid 19

I have taking 5000 iu everyday for a year. My numbers are good. There is no reason for the residents in Baja to not go out an sunbade every sunny day for 20 minutes and avoid the virus. Add some homemade lemonade and you should be good.

Snake oil.

What I'm doing at work is so secret, even I don't know what I'm doing!

Why would you oil a snake? :?:

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Because it squeaks, of course.

There is evidence that Vitamin D boosts your immune system, but is not a cure all. I have been taking 5,000 IU a day for years as my neurologist says I need to keep my levels up to help ward off MS relapses.

I wish we knew a while back, my sister died because of MS and she couldn't handle being in the sun for any period of time. I take 5k a day and it helps numerous aspects of health.

Sorry for you loss, deportes.

I never heard of taking so much vitamin D. I do know that if you are ever hospitalized, it is very important to include this information when asked what meds you take.

Sorry you lost your sister. Heat is not a friend of MS. It wipes me out if I get over heated. I am lucky, there are drug therapies available and my MS is fairly benign Relapsing Remitting.

It is important to build and keep levels of Vitamin D up because our bodies in the upper northern hemisphere do not make it between the equinoxes in the fall/winter. Winter depression can result when levels dip low.

And... people with a history of skin cancer, need to stay out of the sun, thus need to supplement. All this in spite of my squirrel fur.

Healthy is as healthy does. Stay healthy in body, mind, and spirt including nutrient dense food and you will be fine.

Vitamin D deficiency increases COVID-19 risk by more than 50%

Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Vitamin D deficiency increases a person's risk for getting infected with COVID-19 by more than 50%, research published Thursday in the journal PLOS ONE found.

In a study of more than 190,000 people who had been screened for COVID-19, nearly 13% of those with lower-than-recommended levels of the nutrient tested positive for the coronavirus, the data showed.

Conversely, just over 8% of those with "adequate" vitamin D levels and 6% of those with high levels had COVID-19, according to the researchers.

Overall, the researchers found people with "deficient" levels of vitamin D were at 54% higher risk of having the coronavirus.

According to this article Dr. Fauci recommends taking supplements of Vitamins C and D. My diet is pretty healthy, but being lactose-intolerant means no longer drinking vitamin D-fortified whole milk. When some pre-surgical bloodwork showed me to be deficient in Vitamin D, I started taking supplements per my physician's recommendation.
