global entry? Sentri?
Is global entry the best $100 card to cut the pedestrian line? Is global entry the card that also works at air ports?
Is standing in line at the TJ crossing for hours the best and fastest way to catch Corona virus?
The question is,
best card for line cutting??????????????

GE unless you have minor children. Minor children are free w/Sentri.

In my experience, GE applications seem to get processed much more quickly than SENTRI. They both have basically the same benefits, and get you
TSA-precheck and faster custom screenings at airports.

It's not really "line cutting" - you just go to the appropriate line. So happens the SENTRI/GOES line is much shorter.

If you don't already have SENTRI or Global Entry, it may take a while to process a new application. I had SENTRI which included GE & TSA-Pre, I
renewed a few months ago, and just applied for GE as it also included SENTRI and TSA-Pre but was only $100 to renew. I got my approval in two days
and my SENTRI card a week later. My husband applied in mid-August and has not heard anything, only crickets.

It's taking the same amount of time to get pre approved for both, and it can take close or more than a year.

I applied for Sentri almost a solid year before also applying for GE.
The interview for Sentri was approved only a couple months before GE one, AND the soonest Sentri interview is well into 2021, at SD and Calexico
locations not exactly convenient for a central CA nomad.
I've got the GE interview scheduled for this Friday at SFO, at last!
And have realized: with covid, this is probably the first year ever that my truck and I wouldn't end up waiting hours in a line anyway! 
(Is it right to assume that lines getting back in are nothing like normal?)

I have had GE for years especially because I fly the world a lot and when returning to the US I don't have to stand in line. The only downside is once
I go through and show my GE I still have to wait for my luggage.

Started with just Sentri because it was all I knew about. When, after a year, there was no response at all on my application, I finally asked some
questions and learned about GE -- including that it can be faster, which it turned out to be.
I certainly don't want both, just one. First credential to the finish line -- first thing that might relieve the dreadful and depressing waste of
time comprised of bumper-to-bumpering for three hours at an idle while waiting for two minutes of a border guard's attention -- wins.

With my GE interview coming up this Friday, I realized: aside from inspecting my various proofs of citizenship and residence, I have no idea what they
might ask me.
What do they ask? Do they really interrogate people, or is it mainly a formality to verify your identity?

They tied me in a chair and slapped me around a bit, then said I "passed".
A clear case of squirrel-ism.
Nah, they asked mostly things to be sure they had the right documents. I think if you are polite and mildly deferential, you'll find them facilitative
and friendly. Nice people, just doing their job.

Have you ever been arrested for or convicted of a felony???
Do you have any tax liens?
Do you owe past due child support or alimony?
Ever had a security clearance taken away?
They ask these types of questions and they already know what the answers should be, but want to see if you will lie to them anyway.

Geez, they didn't ask me any of that stuff. But possibly because I have had FBI clearances for 40 years, for occupational requirements. Maybe they
know that.

The family are all provisionally accepted to SENTRI and are waiting on interviews. I've been logging in daily to bump up our interview slot as best I
could, but realized last week that I screwed up. I originally had a group interview date for August 2021, but was able to bump the date up to late
June. What I didn't realize at the time was that I had bumped up my interview date to a single opening, losing the family slot.
After doing some research, I've decided to keep my SENTRI slot and continue to bump up the interview date as earlier slots become available and get
the rest of the family into the Global entry program.
What I'm having difficulty finding out: is it possible to switch the rest of the family over to Global from SENTRI and keep all the info I've
already uploaded? Or do I have to cancel SENTRI and start over with Global?
Anyone have experience with this or know of a source I can reference? I'm not seeing anything on the TTP site, other than "you may also be eligible
for" with nowhere to click...
Edit: it definitely pays to log on and check for cancelations. After deciding to go this route, I was able to bump up my slot from June, to May, to
April and finally to mid-November. If all goes well, in 24 days I'll have my fast-pass!

When I subscribed to Appointment Scanner, I was amazed at all the appointments that showed up, including the next day.

O.K., I was able to speak with a human at the SENTRI interview location in Calexico.
Short answer -they have to cancel their appointments before registering for Global entry, which (as she pointed out) could take up to 18 months to be
conditionally approved.
I cancelled appointments for each and could then select Global, for which they were both immediately conditionally approved. Interviews for both kids
set for Dec. 26.

Keep the tab open and check in from time to time. I found most openings in the mornings, but happened on that Opening for next month just randomly
checking in.
You’ve got to be quick with your click! Lot’s of people jonesing for those early slots!
