Pedestrian crossing
At some point in June I'm going back up north with a Canadian buddy of mine so he can import his truck. He's going to Tijuana to do this, so I'm going
to catch a ride with him up there. 2 dayer from SJD.
I'm going up with him, to pick up my new Honda CRF 300L Rally, from a San Diego dealer. I have only driven through the border at San Ysidro. He
doesn't want to cross over, in case the Covid rules are still strict(Canadian).
My question is this. I plan on walking across and catching a cab or Uber to the dealer and then riding the bike back over the border and meet up with
him on the Mexican side. Is there a designated US line or Sentri line for pedestrians when I walk into the US? On the US side is there a cab stand or
?

I've only walked over that crossing once, in 2019. I don't recall any designated lines but take this with a grain of salt as I'm too stubborn to
apply for sentri/global entry/clear/any_other_pay_for_play_security_service.
I hopped out of the car, joined the big line (which moved pretty quickly), and reconnected with my buddy (who drove across using his Sentri pass).

SENTRI card holders just walk up to the front of the line and show the SENTRI card to the guard working there.
Cabs will be waiting as you exit the building on the US side. You may have to walk a few blocks north to get a cell signal to use Uber.

Yes, there is a dedicated SENTRI line at San Ysidro and Otay Mesa. None at Tecate.
As SF & H mentioned, just show the card at the front of the pedestrian line and you will be promptly let in to the US after they take your photo
and verify your identity at the CBP booth.

A few years back I drove my new CRF250L south at SY - no problems at all. The bike didn't have plates yet, so I was bit worried, but got the green
light and went on my way.
Good luck and enjoy. By far the most reliable bike I have ever had. I broke my kneecap about 4-5 years ago and didn't ride for about four months.
Put the bike on a trickle charge when I knew I couldn't ride and it started instantly - after months!
BTW, I still have the original battery on the bike. New from 2014.

You drove a dirt bike through a pedestrian crossing?  Nice to have that
option I guess!

There is a Sentri lane for Northbound pedestrians on both SY crossings - older Pedeast and newer Pedwest. Can't say about now but Sentri waiting time
before the epidemic at Pedeast in the morning was 15-20 minutes. You just walk past the long line until you see the tail of the short Sentri line. On
Pedwest in the morning waiting time was zero.
Don't remember about cabs, most pedestrians take a trolley or bus.
Your Canadian friend will be admitted to the US if he says that he's going back to Canada. In this case he should be prepared to answer questions
about his itinerary, ex. flight reservations - but he doesn't have to have a reservation, planes are leaving half empty now. He will also be admitted
back to Mexico later - changed his mind, who cares, - on either of the two pedestrian crossings. Mexican border guards don't enforce Covid
restrictions for travelers.
