'StuckSucks' Reports: Puertecitos Pemex Closed!
Jim (aka 'StuckSucks') is equipped with a Garmin/ DeLorme inReach device...
We exchange data during our Baja trips... and just now, Jim texted me that the Pemex in Puertecitos is closed, pumps wrapped in cardboard. He messaged
me from the turquoise mine road, Km. 176 south of Gonzaga.

I think I've only seen it open one time that I can remember. Never wanted to count on it but it would have been a nice spot to stretch the mileage.

So Gonzaga is it until Jesus and Maria or the guys at the LA Bay turnoff!
The Puertecitos Station has been closed the last few times we've by!

like the gonzaga pemex you had to track down the operator that was rarely in ear shot to hopefully score some gasolina if you were lucky....before my
time but a pretty cool old photo here

About five years ago, I pulled up to the station, but there was nobody there. I saw a couple of people working on a boat near there, asked them when
the station would open, and one of them dropped what they were doing and went to get a guy to open up!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

In Punta Prieta, gas is sold at the store on the north side of town.
The next Pemex station is Villa Jesus María.

There are always 2 or 3 guys at the LA bay turnoff selling gas in plain sight. Signs and everything!

The only ones we count on being open are San Felipe and Guerrero Negro. Every thing else is iffy.
Even at BOLA make sure you get it when you arrive and don't wait until you leave.

Bought gas from a pump like that on a trip to Laguna Hanson. I don't remember where it was but it was in the early 90's.

I like the old-timey "visible" gas pumps -- these were not conducive to cheating by seller. I think pemex was unhappy with visible/graduated bowls on
pumps, so they invented the "cheater" pump that dispense ISC liters (International Organization for Cheating) as opposed to ISO liters (International
Organization for Standardization)

I bought 5 gallons there in 2017. It is sold out of the shed behind the market. As at other places that sell gas independently, you just need to ask
locals, it usually won't be advertised, and it should be for emergency if you can't get to a Pemex station. It will cost about a dollar or more per
gallon over the Pemex price.
