New Bypass Road Open? Finally?

My roommate just got back from San Felipe, and said they took the new paved road around the north of Ensenada to connect to Hwy 3. I think it's called Libertad(?) Ensenada. She said it's fully paved and really nice, although signage was not installed. It may have just opened last week, not sure how they discovered it, but that's the report. Hopefully it's accurate.

Yes... Highway 3 from Tecate to Highway 3 from San Felipe are finally connected! See it in the new Baja Atlas Map book.
Libramiento de Ensenada... a map on Google shows it almost connected:

Yes, I saw that Google hasn't updated the connection. Thanks, David.

She showed me some pics, a couple views back down toward Ensenada from the road. Road looked good!

I have used it a few times. The only kink in the chain is the road that connects it to Avenida Reforma in Ensenada. It is a horrible road full of potholes.
The potholes start just after the large cement plant. I have to take it to get to San Felipe from Ensenada. The other road is Cortez Ave. off Reforma as well. That is potholed as well, plus it has the added burden of heavy traffic.

That's the old "shortcut" I think. This newly opened road is further north of Ensenada and connects with 3 out to the east of Ensenada. I've taken the "Reforma to Aguila" route several times as well. It's been under construction for a while and only recently opened apparently.

Come on, DK, time for a map!

I really don't do good city maps... Google Maps is your best bet, maybe?
