Warsaw, Poland day 2

We are enjoying life in Warsaw! Lemonade is a specialty drink that I love and Les with his piwo (beer).

I am enchanted by the architecture. Exquisite buildings all around us.

One of the things I most miss in our part of Baja is the lack of sculptures.

Poland is known for its amber and it is everywhere.

If you want more more more Poland, check out my facebook. I have videos and so many photos!!!

Yesterday we made plans to have lunch with Peter's family. Who is Peter, you might ask.

I went to an international high school in Rio de Janeiro. Many of us have "met up" again with the advent of facebook. I noticed there was a guy who posted amazing architectural photos of old Rio and his name was Piotr.

He was not in my class, but in the high school group so I asked him if he was Polish. Turns out he is, turns out he is 5 years younger than I, and lives in Warsaw.

So he picked out a restaurant not too far from out hotel and we all met for lunch. It was so fun and we will get together again when we go back to Warsaw to return to Los Angeles/San Diego/La Bocana.

His oldest boy became an architect like his dad but specializes in computer graphics. The 2nd son is going to work in AI. He himself studied architecture but worked his whole life as a conference coordinator. His photos of Rio long ago show this aptitude from an early age. I think we should all follow our dreams for work and most would be much happier!

Both the kids and dad speak excellent English, his wife, not so much.

It was so fun to make a small world connection! I actually know 2 other Poles from my class - Beata is in Rio, she and her dad have 2 houses, one in Brazil and one here in Warsaw. Juliusz Kossakowski is a movie director and last I heard, was living in Portugal and a VERY busy director.

When I asked Piotr what his dad was doing that took him to Brazil when Poland was still communist, he said his dad imported vodka and exported coffee.

At our next get together, Les and he will explore the fact that they discovered at the last minute of our get together: both had dads born in Vienna and granddads born in Lwow. Les had a captain in the family and Piotr had a general!
