Fly fishing the Front Range on a Sunday

So SWMBO wanted to see Tedeschi/Trucks in Red Rocks outside of Denver last year but covid f-ed that up. everything got reschedule to now so off we go, with 2 extra days to fish Bear Creek flowing eastward from Mt Evans. She says, "why don't you bring your fly rod and I'll curl up with some books for a couple of days?" Works for me, heh.
Saturday I had the pools and riffles pretty much to myself. But apparently I was not tied into the what happens on Sunday. I guess there is some sort of law or ordinance that everyone who lives in Denver, owns a, pick one or two, mountain bike, fly rod and or dog must pack up the kids and gandmas and head up to the Front Range and destroy any chance of getting trout to rise. Can't say I blame them (the trout).
God help the poor soul who only has Sunday off.

The fun part comes when the guy shows up with his dog and throws the ball to fetch where you're casting. Trout love that.

Don’t get all wound up when fishing. If a dog annoys you, you should probably stop fishing for an hour and chill out with some meditation and polio pot to get in a mellower mood :light:

Woke!

I know it's not the same thing, but when my dog wades out into one of my ponds, the bass and blue gill come toward her to see if she stirs up some food

I don't want anybody throwing hooks out by her, but you could literally hook up within a couple of feet of her!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Well, I exaggerated some. They don't play catch right on top of you. It's usually a ways away. But trout are pretty wary creatures. They'll stop rising when there's commotion quite a ways upstream from you.

Goat: Perhaps you don't know it but the rule amongst fishermen is that the first to arrive at a spot gets the spot to himself. Not the other way around.

Akgringo: I love fishing for bluegill with a light rod. They're always so willing to take the popper.

Or, the dog owner could take their dog to a dog park, and not interfere with people on a trout stream. We don't take our flyrods to the dog park and interrupt dogs and their owners. You can take a dog for walk anywhere, no excuse for bothering others.

Well, I was being a bit over the top, there are miles and miles of hiking trails here. Lots of disgustingly healthy young folks, carrying their little kids on their backs, walking uphill in 8000 foot elevation, apparently no less for wear. I was winded just getting into my wading shoes....:(
