Doug ! Please stop the covid-19 topic

This topic has gone on way to far. It's one attack after another. Let's get back to talking about Baja and having something we all agree on.

Robert Mitchum the actor, once said "I never learn anything from hearing myself talk".

Wisdom comes in all forms, even throughout the ages, which indicates we humans could ALL use some perspective that is lacking recently, or maybe it has always been so, and it is the actors recently who have taken advantage of a soulless leader who has fractured our unique attempt at a truly representative form of democracy.

Have at it, as I am sure some will be compelled to do. The best result for this feeble attempt would be complete silence and the end of more than just this thread on certain topics that never go anywhere.

Why some go here to create division is beyond me. Don't we all get enough of that every day elsewhere? Just asking.

Peace and love to all Baja lovers. Fish tacos forever.

Ppl complain about a lack of Baja posts, yet they never make a post or thread about Baja. Weird.

The topic has a way of coming back around. IMO, politicization of the pandemic started in 2019 and the flame has been fanned by a few here. JZ, for example, believes in beating the subject like a dead horse.

Provocative blanket statements (covid is over, burn your masks) and plain nonsense draws ppl into the fray. JZ is a troll. There are those looking for entertainment and debate. Have at it.

JZ is outrageous. I like that.

Just glanced through the posts on that topic...some of the most vocal here are the worst offenders there. No wonder people have been driven away.

BN is a microcosmic representation of the opinions of mostly US residents. It is clear that there seems to be "two perspectives" in discussions about Covid and all involved with that... science, government's role, health care, personal relationships, economy....

Not much middle ground when extremists are at the podium.

Good luck with that:

Just a reminder, the button at the bottom right side of the column says "post reply", not "must reply"!

Or in other words, it should be; Post Reply?, not Post Reply!

I'm a bit ambivalent about shutting down an active thread, even if it frequently steers off course. People do need to vent about the politicization of the pandemic as well as how it's frustrated our efforts to return to normal. At 30 pages long, there are probably 2 or 3 pages that include actual numbers, the rest of it letting off steam.

I think we can all agree that a government that can control what the broadcast and print media can say, is dead wrong.

It is just as wrong if the mainstream, and social media get to influence who governs!

So.... who should influence who governs? "The people" seem somewhat limited with new voting laws being introduced.

What information sources do you trust ?

Nobody. I read opposing news sources and try to figure out the truth based upon the bias each one has. In one sitting I read CNN, Fox, BBC World News, and RT. I should be reading the Chinese paper but only do so on occasion. That will change as the aggression builds toward that country and the propaganda machine grows. I don't read the NY Times or the Wash Post because their slant is similar to CNN so what's the point.
