Gecko converted to leased lots and ended camping about 2006. However, there was mention that Doc was considering camping again. I am curious and hope to hear what you find out.

As mentioned, the host here (Doug) will move it to Q & A or where he wants.
In the future, you could copy your post, delete it in the wrong forum, and paste it in the right forum.
Also, if you typo (like JZ with Doug's name), there is an edit button!

Years ago, I camped just beyond the Camp Gecko boundary (south - before the houses start). There was acceptable vehicle access to that spot, otherwise the road skirts away from the bay and toward the private houses, and then deep sand.

I did not set up a camp, but I did find a nice spot to spend the night there, and that was just last year.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

There are Camp Gecko or near-to-Gecko Baja Nomads... they don't post often, but come back and check this thread if they do. :light:

Doc has some cabins on the beach that he's converted to vacation rentals. I don't know if he's open to truck camping. I'll ask him and find out.

It was a really fun place for us Nomads and Amigos de Baja (before Baja Nomad) to camp, hang out with Internet friends, fish, and party (New Years Eve always a great pot luck with Bedman's prime rib).

The campfire chats with tequila bottle being passed around, were the best! Stories shared from Mike Humfreville, Debra (Travelpearl), Bedman, Pakoderm, TW, David A, Frank O (Soulpatch), Paulina, 4baja, GeoRock, and more!

Paulina tossed in some 'magic rocks' to add color to the campfire at Gecko...

It would be nice if Doc is able to revive the camping again. There are many who loved the camping, miss it, and would love to return to camping there once again! V

So, you can't truck camp out on La Gringa anymore? Isn't that still open for camping? I haven't been there in years, but that's the only place we ever went; tents, trucks, campers, motorhome, etc.
