Bahia Asuncion Waterfront Project

Bahia Asuncion's waterfront is really getting spiffed up. First the seawall, then some large palms planted and now phase 1 of the new malecon was inaugurated yesterday. It was not a big event as gatherings are prohibited still but the state Governor, Municiple President, Mayor and Port Authority jefe were here to cut the ribbon.

The kids love the new little pirate ship park too and the dogs seem to love the new letters!

In other local news, Bajaboy and his beautiful family have moved here full time and their son Gabriel works at Chikirringis Tacos! The kids will be going to school here...if they return to classes. Zac is brewing up some epic beers too!

We have a new mutt named Sky Blue that is wreaking havoc at the Inn...3 month old puppies will do that!

A local kid is making these cool rustic benches that are perfect for watching the sunset at the blowhole!

the ocean temps warmed to over 80 in the last few weeks..perfect for playing in the water finally! Not good for the kelp or abalone though.

Fishing is heating up too with lots of yellowtail, bonita, dorado, calico, whitefish and lots of halibut and corbina from the beach now too. My daughter Sirena brought home the bacon....er...sashimi a few days ago. Her son Santiago is now 5 and loves fishing!

Beaches, restaurants, hotels etc are all open no problema just mask up in stores. All is well here in our little paradise....nice and cool!

Life is good here in Bahia Asuncion. Would love to see some more people come visit. When we're not running or riding the trails, catching the waves, or working in the garden, we're drinking/brewing beer.

We bottled a nice black ipa which turned out great and plan to keg a juicy ipa this weekend. Also brewing up a nice IIPA this weekend, too. Next up is a Unicorn Fart pale ale complete with glitter and we're going to try a blackberry hard seltzer.

As Shari mentioned, the fish are thick. I have yet to go fishing as people keep giving us fish.

It's really cool to see this village progressing...but staying the same...the breathtaking pristineness(which should be a word) that captured my soul... remains the same. Soooo much diverse beauty!and a great Happy Hour view!

Those of you who havent visited in awhile will see how beautiful things have become...the flowers, bushes & palms are lush and you will love the new waterfront promenade. The kids ride their bikes and skateboard on the sidewalks and parents sit in the shade of the palms while their children play in the little park.I still think a half pipe would be rad!!!

It is well lit and safe...finally we have a place to sit and chat ...kind of like a town square but at the beach.

Beautiful sign! All these improvements are so wonderful. Glad to see folks are visiting again...so easy to be safe in a small village with tons of open spaces.

When we get back to Baja, we shall head over for a fish taco reunion with everyone!

Come visit La Bocana

Such a wonderful little fishing village, clean, safe, no Covid and everyone friendly and helpful! It is a cautious community with a hospital, no crime or poverty and so much to offer. Sitting on a beautiful beach, and striking distance to so many others along with great desert access. Shore fishing is awesome, we were catching two at a time! Shari has all the connections and directions for surfing, diving, panga fishing and happy hour! Six easy hours below San Felipe! Thank you Shari for putting this place on the map!

Do they have a boat ramp yet there or is it still all beach launching?

It is nearly impossible to maintain a nice ramp as the village faces the open Pacific so if someone did pay to put one in, it would most likely not last. Who would spend alot of money on that?

The coop launch area at the point is the safest but very narrow with rocks on both sides and local knowledge is pretty important for launching there...plus you should wait until all the pangas have departed so you dont get in their way. Launching a larger boat here is not for the inexperienced and it's best to get someone local to assist you.

Yes I am...I am not a big fan of the whole letters thing especially blocking out the beautiful natural view of the ocean but everyone seems to love them and at night they light up with different colours and it looks pretty cool.

What I do LOVE is the nice cement work they did and that you can sit in the shade of the big pine tree on the lovely low walls they built that curve around the park area and letters. We dont have a town square so this is a nice area to go and sit and look at the ocean, kids playing volleyball & boogie boarding etc. The little pirate ship kids park is great too and the kids and doggies love it.

Nice pics and update Shari! Cant wait to see the town. We will be sailing south departing ~10/24 and will plan a stop at BA. I'll call you in advance and maybe you know someone that can help us fuel? Much better than Tortugas.

I now have an image stuck in my head of a unicorn, farting glitter! :o
