Maybe a good poll question (we used to do those more)?
To me, "central Baja" is approx. the peninsula south of El Rosario to around Loreto (Ligüí).
I am sure others have their own ideas!

what do you expect from a travel writer?
they are good with words - but usually have no clue where they are
and then "artsy"
there are some galleries to suck money from tourists
but "artsy"?
some talent in La Paz though

I have to wonder whether articles like these are truly first-person accounts, or if the writer just Googled a bunch of locations and concocted an
itinerary on her iPad. The author is a "freelance journalist" who has been "to far-flung destinations", but you'd have to think it's much more
lucrative for magazines like cntraveler to reward paint-by-numbers fairy tales like this one versus funding a deep dive into the culture of a region.

I am a writer (among many other things)
your client will tell you what they want to see
client could be a magazine/site etc
client could be a tourist department
often both in conjunction
usually they fly you to your destination
during your stay you'll be pampered and sugar blown up your ass
expensive presents are common
more aggressive writers also press money from the final client
text and pictures you get to see later are carefully crafted and rarely reflect reality
