The view is amazing. We rarely get to see the race as we are usually off on a mountain top. From this location we will see the lights from the racers down on the Valley floor as they leave Bahia de Los Angeles.
Two weeks to go before we head to the ranch.

Paulina, if you could take photos of any ruins of the mine buildings, railroad line, etc., that would make for good historical photographic preservation. I would also like share them on my Facebook Baja Mission/History page.
Thanks!
Have fun up there and stay warm!

Will do! I have some photos from 2017 that I can send you, if I didn't share them with you then.

No doubt the guy can build the thing. Apparently he has the dollars and smarts and that is all it takes. But to drive it in Baja he will have to have a semi with a cryo trailer to refill his tanks. Maybe more thatn one of them if the distance is significant?

Took my daughter up to San Diego to get her Covid shot. We stopped at Baja Cactus to see if we could get a room for the following night. Unfortunately, they were booked.

But on the bright side, we were able to assist the couple in front of us who needed language assistance with the front desk staff. It was none other than Ivan Ironman Stewart and his wife.

My daughter and I geeked out on all the buggies, trucks, and bikes pre-running on our quick trip to the States. We're back on the better side of the border now.

We recently had some stairs custom made by a guy in Vizcaino. His shop is .2 of a mile from checkpoint 2. He is letting us camp at his place for the night. Can't wait!

This race is almost as magical and wonderful as the peninsula it takes place on. Both are rare and one of a kind for sure. So glad so many enjoy both!

I will be up all night chasing a motorcycle from Loreto to La Paz, after staying up most or all night on several occasions helping him pre-run his section.

The course and conditions are ever changing. Between the whoops, rocks, silt, dust, cliffs, southern Pacific fog (!!!), animals, cacti, spectators, hallucinations and possibly even chupacabras it is a surreal experience that demands 100% focus for hours on end, both day and night. This year we even get a blood moon and a lunar eclipse!

The logistics, preparation and time it takes to make a serious attempt at this race are huge. The trophy trucks and cars are way cool, but the bike riders (and the class 11 stock VW's) are the real tough guys/gals in my book!

A life of fears leads to a death bed of regrets.

Find someone who will take care of you, and take care of them.

i tried viewing that live feed to see what all the excitement was about. i saw a minute of people standing around by the course (no cars, no racing), followed by the longest commercial break ever! clicked goodbye to that waste of time!

one commercial break, with multiple redbull ads separate by multiple ads for the mex navy and baja jerky -- why would i want to watch duplicate ads in series?
and baja jerky appears to be usa company, and does not appear to be made of anything from baja. wtf?

At 4:22PM SCORE tracker says Steele is at RM 257.7 and Robby is at RM 252.9
I also read that Robby lost his motor. Nothing about Steele.
Of course it means nothing becasue the onboard trackers a known to fail. Racers wanting to go for the overall championship carry two trackers.

If the trackers were not working, is there any way to monitor their speed in controlled speed zones?

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

During the race, we heard a motorcycle had lost his tracker. The officials asked if his chase team was looking for it. They said no and race officiials reminded them there would be a time penalty for each checkpoint.
