Never understood why anyone would order a taco at a sit down restaurant.
Hands down the best tacos of any type are found on the street.

The place that you, me, and Karl went to was pretty good... Was it two places, one by the marina and the one on the water near your place, (used for family events)?

Sometimes it is pleasant to eat a meal while sitting down in a quiet place.
Standing at a counter on a busy street is not always a relaxing meal.

Pics of tatanka look nice. Has a bit nicer ambiance than el estadio or tacos perrones.

Sounds like 44 had a off night at tatanka. Tatanka might be doing something right if it is getting good reviews.

I went along with a pro restaurant critic
she had 3 items
in her words:
#1 - disappointing
#2 - world class!
#3 - less than average

she tasted mine and could not find any kind word

One of my favorite places! But there again I have made good in life and don't need to rely on Go Fund Me to live...just sayin.

Lobster Mac & Cheese is incredible. Just wish they didn't sell out to tacate and had Pacifico products

Why would you pay 180 pesos for a taco? Did someone force you to do that?

I once went to a restaurant on the beach in Puerto Vallarta that was someplace the ex pats apparently go to a lot. I only went there because I was with a friend who suggested it. I ordered fish tacos and they had shredded cheese in them. It was revolting. Fish and cheese? And it was cold. Worst food I ever had in Mexico.

Pricey's okay if the food warrants it. 180 pesos for a small taco is just a total rip off, even if it's a good taco :-)

I'd love to try one of those "tacates" but not having "made good " i likely would be unable to afford one

this looks like an appealing taco (pic from their tripadvisor page). i would pay 180 peso for this. i mean, come on, it is only 180 pesos, and most of us gringos are often buying $6 USD starbucks lattes, so what is 180 peso for a fancy taco?

Fish and cheese? well while not haute cuisine the Mac Donald's Filet o' fish does come to mind as having a half slice of cheese in it.
But then again it is the beloved of the hoi polloi

Quality, not quantity.

If you want to gorge on a budget, Olive Garden has unlimited soup, bread and pasta for pretty cheap.

Thanks for the warnings. So far have not had a poor meal in La Paz, but I'm keeping the possibility open, as perhaps its my limited experience that's causing this. Loved the Jungle, el Chef, and the Sushi place beside it on Bravo as well. Been raving about the generally high quality of both presentation and service I found everywhere we ate on the Malecon. The higher priced places were never open when we were hungry so just have to try them next time.
I'm surprised you are up and posting Harald, from the map it looked like the race went right by you.
