SENTRI app is stalled
Now that we are living down closer to the border we got into gear and applied for SENTRI.
I did the app on line, November 3. Teresa got an appointment immediately, but it was way down at Douglas. Rather that try to buck the system we just
took a day and drove down and back. Interesting drive, took all day, nearly 600 miles but the appointment was easy and quick.
I went along to the office, and showed them my paperwork and asked if they could possibly squeeze me in, since my appointment at Sky Harbor was 45
days later.
They found me in the system....."Sorry pal, your app is still pending"
So on my appointment day we went over to the Phoenix airport and guess what..... "Your app is still pending. Go home and wait."
Well, here we are two and a half months later, the online system "cannot locate your application- still pending"
Do I file a fresh application, pretend like it is a new app?
Do I keep waiting for the system to find me? (I just looked.. still pending)
Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone have a bright idea?
Oh, and two months after the "successful" appointment Teresa still does not have her card..... no surprise, just frustrating.

Email them. I did once and they got back to me within 48 hours.

Thanks for the site.
I filled out the questionaire,
But it said that SENTRI is now 6-9 months in processing time.
Sure does not square with my wife getting approved in 2 weeks
Since I filed both apps at the same time....
Anyone else getting strung out this long, just to wait for the interview?

I did my interview at Sky Harbor (Phoeniix int'l) a couple of months ago. No problems at all and my Senti card arrived 3 weeks later.
Traveling Baja for 50 years.

When I applied for renewal, I had my approval in 2 days and my new card in 7. No interview required.
My husband's application took several months. After his interview (for the renewal) it was several weeks before he got final approval.

In my experience, the income tax here in CA is offset by the higher salaries here, so extra tax is a wash.
Climate and amenities sure are better here in socal than low tax states retirees are flocking to.
For retirement, i can see where low tax state might be good, if tolerable climate
I know so many people that have moved to AZ, WY, TX… climates looks horrible!
WA or OR might be tolerable… though winters are rough.
Cant imagine not living close the ocean….

Yes, I moved..... and just in time
In contrast to the rather disjointed previous post.....
Hard to reconcile how the most recent state tax rate I was paying in California (12%) offset anything of value. And since I have not drawn a salary
in over 40 years my self-employed success is pretty much the same wherever I live.
The weather here is wonderful!! We moved here last July, had some very hot days (But hey, most of my trips to Baja have encountered hot weather) You
learn to work around the heat, and the electric rates are so much lower than California that you can afford to run the a/c a lot to compensate. Park
and walk in the shade, get up early to do your outdoor activities,
and enjoy a mellow winter.
I returned yesterday from two grim days in Seattle. Cold, dreary, wet, soggy. Yeah, such a glorious place.
And the graffiti, trashy roads, etc. Grim!!
Seattle is having a garbage strike, so everyone is burning their trash. Such enlightened folks..... NOT
Driving along the coast on Saturday, with the tsunami warnings buzzing on our phones..... yes, that ocean sure looked inviting.
OK, back to business.
JZ, thanks for the reference on how to communicate with CPB.
Of course they have not answered my inquiry, but at least I tried.
You have to love the Federal government.... I guess... it is the only one we have, but sure wish that these things could be handled by someone
competent, and not the Feds.
