I got a surprise when I looked at the latest printing of Baja California Land of Missions!
COLOR IMAGES!
That's right, the printer made a mistake and many (not all) of the images were printed in color. Looks pretty cool but normally doing a full color
printing is very costly. So, while they last, I have a case of these 'mistakes' available for no extra cost, at OldMissions.com!
EDIT: I counted 74 images now in color that were black & white before. These are photos, drawings, and maps.
Some examples:
The book has way outdone my greatest expectations (even in all black & white), and just when I think I can retire it (now 6 years later), orders
are still coming in. I think that I was able to print in small batches, and do periodic updates, and swap in newer photos over the years, helps.
Thank you Baja Nomads for your interest in the Spanish and Mission History of the peninsula we admire so much! Knowledge is power and it makes
visiting the sites even more interesting.

Very nice mistake on their part. My roommate already has your books in her collection! It's in a clear storage box so I can see the cover every
time I go in the garage. A really nice reference guide.

It can indeed serve as a reference book! I provide a list of every known missionary in the back.
When I wrote this book, it was made to tell the story, in chronological order, of the discovery of California, the first attempts to colonize the
peninsula, and then the 27 mission stories, in the order of their founding, a timeline.
I also added an explanation for the "lost missions legends" and other historic errors, as well as the tragedy of diseases, introduced by explorers,
pirates, and soldiers well before the missions were established.
My goal was to provide the kind of detail that normally would require a Baja library of books to find and make it easy to read and able to fit in your
glovebox or backpack!

I love all of that, David. I wonder if Fr. Jaimie Bravo is related to the famous matador that we used to love to watch in the '50's and '60's in
Tijuana at the old bull ring by the same name, Jaime Bravo.
We just returned from a delightful trip to Loreto, Mulege and Conception Bay. It was starting to get very busy when we left on last Sunday.

Glad you had a good time in Baja! I saw a little of it on your Facebook postings. I have no idea on the bullfighter's heritage.
