Baja College Scholarship student updates

My super smart student, Karla Valeria, is now a bona fide dentist! She just finished up her Servicio Social! I could not be prouder!

Working her internship

Volunteering with Rotary Club this month

Graduation from internship ceremony, July 29 2022

Julian is working at the IMSS hospital in La Paz - pic he sent me yesterday.

Pablo graduated in Bus Admin, went on to get a Masters and I think he has already finished hid PhD! He has a tourist shop in Santa Rosalia, a while ago he opened this bar and now he is opening a concert venue. Here he is at the bar.

Alexis wrote to me that the union at EL BOLEO (where he works) has decided to go on strike and if an agreement is not reached, the company has told employees that they will close in September. He loved his job there as an accountant and really is sad about the situation. I advised him to look for other jobs and he is doing so. His dream is that this nightmare just end.

This is Roger who is studying aquaculture in La Paz. He graduates in 2024 and is already almost done with his thesis! One year early, wow.

This is a star in the making! Lizeth has gotten straight A's since she started college in Santa Rosalia. Her major is Bus Admin. She is one of the sweetest humans on Earth.

Edgar is my Computer Scientist. He studies in Ensenada. A really quiet young adult.

His brother is Ramiro and he took a semester off from Architecture to recover from the shock of loosing his best friend and roommate to Covid. He should finish up next year if all goes to plan. He moved out of the apartment they shared - needed a diff place. I get it.

More updates another day! Thanks so much to all of you who have helped with kind words and money for tuitions and monthly expenses and passports (I want them all to visit the States!) and shoes and dentists and more. This project started in 2011 and the first students went off to college in 2012. What a journey this has been. THANK YOU!

Welcome CuipBleerp to BajaNomad and yes, those practical classes are a part of their curriculum. I ask that the students try to do them wherever they plan to work in the future....getting a foot in the dooor, so to speak.

Thanks TMW!

Gato: I will do! Her Mom says thanks to everyone too. We are so lucky that she emotionally supported her daughter the whole 5 years. Made going off to college so much easier on Karla Valeria.
