Fire in Todos Santos

I first heard about it through friends on Facebook: a wildfire that started in palm orchards but continued a slow march toward the downtown area. I found this article in Diario El Independente that described fire departments from La Paz and Los Cabos joining their counterparts in Todos Santos and El Pescadero to put out the fire. Given that the dump in El Pescadero regularly sets its trash on fire, however, one wonders how soon it will happen again.

I have seen the results of several palm grove fires in Baja, and on the mainland. It is amazing how many palms are able to sprout new tops and carry on.

I hope that those who live in or near the groves were protected!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Where I live, most fires are started by someone burning brush unsafely- leaving it unattended, having no water nearby, burning when it's windy.
