Show me the green

Hello everyone ! Was wondering if some of you in Baja could post some pictures of how the desert looks after the big rains.

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing it myself on my trip south in November

I am not there yet, but I also will be looking for the green. It was in 2014, almost to the day, when "Odile" came ashore in Baja California. I first discovered the BajaNomad forum searching for reports of storm damage.

That was also the first time I drove the road from Bahia De Los Angeles to Punta San Francisquito, and it was one of my more outstanding trips! There were morning glory's growing in the middle of the road, flowers and grasses sprouting in places I wouldn't expect to see them.

There was some work being done on the road, but much of it was a challenge with detours around washouts, and deep, soft sand across a couple of the arroyo flood plains. In other words, a fun drive!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

I'll kick in $20 to start a "Send DK to Baja" fund! Who else is in?

All green around SF but pics don't show anything. Ocotillos all leafed out, trees very happy and tons of weed growth but no flowers yet. Think they may have blown their wad in the spring and not coming back till next spring.

Go to the Nomad photo and video forum. The very first post are the steps to post a high quality image that fits on the Nomad page without stretching. Don't skip any steps!

Here that post is:

To post photos from your Pictures folder on your computer...

Go to www.Postimages.org, make an album if you want to organize your photos to find them easily in the future (by date or by subject). No cost to use Postimages.org.

Change the upload setting from "Do not resize my image" to 640x480 (recommended for forums) or 800x600 (max. on Nomad). You click on the little arrow to see the size choices.

Click "Choose images" and select the photos you want to put on Nomad from your Pictures folder.

Click on the image you want on Nomad and click on "Share" at the top of the screen.

Choose "Hotlinks for forums" (down next to the last one). You can click the little box at the right end of the link and it is now saved on your mouse.

Go to Nomad and paste that link onto the place where you are typing on Nomad. You can put text in below the photo for a caption for your post and if you double space between photo links (for clarity), you can put several photos and captions in a single post on Nomad. You can click "Preview" on Nomad to check and see how it will look before posting to the board.

If you need to fix a post after it is done, click on "Edit" along the edge of your post, and change or delete your post. If you edit more than once, you can delete the previous Edited on tags so only one edit tag will appear after you edit the post.

Yes, it is greening up!

And not just in Baja! I drove south on US 95 through Nevada and parts of CA and Arizona, but the area south of San Felipe seemed to be the most pronounced change.

I am sorry to report that my co-pilot dropped the ball on recording the greening of Baja! Apparently the touch screen on my phone does not respond to paws and toe nails! :(

Maybe take a cat next time? Cats seem to be really good at videography.

With a cat, all I would get would be a bunch of selfies!

The first flowers south of Sn Felipe are just coming out. Give it a couple weeks. The area south of Todos Santos is doing better. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow. Been busy building this week.

These flowers are common here at the south end of Baja. They grow up trees and guy wires 20-30 feet.

It just gets greener as you move south!

I am currently sitting in the restaurant at the turn off to Agua Verde (who knew that they had WIFI?)

Not a lot of flowers yet, but it is lush, green everywhere that is not a rock! It makes the rock formations even more impressive.

I will not be here very long, because it is an outdoor dining experience, and this hot, damp air has also spawned a hell of a lot of insectos!

It has been a spectacular drive!
