Camping pacific Ensenada-San quintin
Hi, I was wondering if any of you know of any campgrounds on a beach between Ensenada and SQ. Looking for a place for next spring.

La Bocana
Greetings Mick,
Just north of Santo Tomas take the nicely graded road through the valley heading west all the way to the Pacific at La Bocana - we've camped on the
beach there sometime ago. If instead going to the left to the sandy area you go north along the ocean, past the houses, there is some open areas on an
elevated mesa before you get to the end of the road.
Neither would be "campgrounds."
Coyote Cal's a couple miles north of Erendira along the ocean is a campground. We've not stayed there.

these days im camped out but quite a while back we enjoyed malibu across the river at erendira, heck it could be long gone but check in with larry
(bajatrailrider) thats his neighborhood........salud
there's only two things in life but I forget what they are........

Not much on the Internet... I stayed there in 2000. The second link here looks like they took a photo from the same spot as me! LOL

Back in the day we used to camp for free at Cuatros Casas and Punta Cabras. I think Cuatros Casas is more of a permanent resident place now, and
Cabras got a reputation for stuff getting stolen, so ..
Mike and Terri Church's book shows "Shipwrecks" as having a campground with fire rings and pit toilets, surfer spot. Also lists "Cueva de Pirata, up
on a bluff west of Colonet as a free camping spot for people that ate at the restaurant, but I heard the hotel and restaurant were closed so not sure
if camping is OK now.
Just a little farther south of San Quintin there are two RV parks / campgrounds on the beach, El Pabellon, quiet place tucked in behind some sand
dunes. I stayed there, nice but you cannot see the water, just hear it. Fidels El Pabellon next door is popular for day us and has beach access.

Punta San Jacinto & Las Lagunitas Campground
Thanks Rick for the reminder of Shipwrecks campground (or one close to the Punta San Jacinto shipwreck that I documented)!
The campground is named Las Lagunitas. It is 0.7 mile north of the shipwreck and homes at Punta San Jacinto.

The road to Punta San Jacinto is well signed on Hwy. 1, just before Km. 150 (north of Camalu). It is four miles to the coast... you will pass the
Grandpas Home, make a left and a right in the little town, and continue west. At the coast, turn north 0.6 mile to the shipwreck, then 0.7 more to the
campground.

Playa Saldamando just north of Ensenada is right on the hillside overlooking the ocean and lots of sites with security.very cool spot if they are
open. No real beach but like Big Sur with good ocean air. Used to be about $10 dollars a day.

Two dirt roads diverged in Baja and I, I took the one less graveled by......

At Colonet head west to the ocean. At San Antonio Del Mar is a large sand dune. Across from the south side is a good place to camp. There are three
levels above the ocean. The top level will keep you dry above the dew line. There also is an outhouse or was. I've been told the people that own the
property may come by and charge you $5 or $10. Maybe I've been lucky since no one has ever asked me to pay.
The retired navy cook that use to be at the restaurant in Santo Tomas told me years ago if you use a Halibut jig and walk out to either side of one of
the dark pools in the water to about waist deep and throw it out then slowly reel it in there was halibut to catch. I don't know I've tried it several
times and never caught a Halibut.
