My feelings are that Mexico's cities are no less safe than an American city of late. Try and breeze through the border cities, in daylight and get
onto the country highways. Of course, I am not going to Mexico as soon as you are. Maybe this summer?

There are large areas of wildflowers between San Felipe and Santa Roselia
Purple Sand Verbena and many others. Some areas are stark and others have flowers, cacti and very strange trees. Nothing like it anywhere else.
You’ll have to excuse the Goat he doesn’t get out much!

A few purple weeds that bloom for 2 weeks does not make that Mexicali-gonzo bay stretch pretty. Still butt ugly.
As a tourist, the 1 route is really more interesting, more varied scenery. If you drive 1 thru northern Baja, you still have ample opportunity to see
barren desert, lots of it south of Laguna chapala

Some thief’s will see the value in a Town car. I do too.
You need an alarm. My siren is 130 dB. Pretty much always in hearing range of the siren. A parking lot like Soriana while shopping is fine
too.
Don’t lose your car. Parking will be tight. Me I’d take a smaller car. Buen viaje.

The reason I was driving the Towncar is because I didn't think anyone would bother would it. It does look nice.
