no more overnight in San Ignacio
I have seen occasional youtubers overnighting with their vans at the San Ignacio town square
no mas!
townspeople have just decided that they don't like that anymore
I wonder what the Sprinter crowd did to pee off the San Ignacio people

In san diego, most communities dislike homeless parking their RVs on street overnight.

GOOD!
There are two nice campgrounds just before the town square and others closer to the river crossing.

If they can afford a Sprinter they can afford a campground or just go out into the desert. I just can't imagine the mindset that says its ok to set
up camp in the town square. I've met some interesting good folk among the overlander crowd but there are also some insufferable self centered jerks
with a great sense of entitlement.
A while back a buddy and I agreed that while the old Baja crowd from 40-50 years ago may have been a little rough around the edges we generally
preferred them to many, but certainly not all, that we meet these days.
Or maybe I'm just an old guy with "get off my lawn!' syndrome.

San Ignacio plaza is not Walmart! I`m sure many locals would love to volunteer to deliver the dreaded midnight knock on the door!

Kind of a plague these days, the Overlander sheep. Just add Starlink and there goes the neighborhood.
Now get off my lawn!

I know sprinter owners that travel extensively in their van and they hate “van lifers.” “Van lifers” give vans a bad name!
“Overlanders?” Stupid name for car campers!
Full disclosure, my car camping outfit is sleeping on the ground, cooking on the tailgate of my truck.
Woke!

A blatant disrespect of the town. No situational awareness.
Good for San Ignacio. I hope there are "no overnight parking" signs all through town and local policia issuing tickets - good revenue source.

I keep looking at Sprinters (and Ford Transits) to replace my current geriatric van, but everything about them is built lightweight. Thin materials,
smaller scale. I would break one way too soon. Too bad, because they are so common.
Most Sprinters out there, with their clean orange Maxtrax proudly displayed on the outside (where tree branches would rip them off if they actually
went somewhere interesting) are just going for the look & feel of an "overlander" but can't get themselves much past gravel roads.

Sprinter vans are the #1 choice for the surfer crowd - not only in Baja.
Lotsa room - good on gas.
very comfy!

I read recently that Ford is going to discontinue sales of the Transit Connect van in the US after this year.

Friends bought a sprinter shell and gad a custom interior made. They got 2wd because it is lighter, and these rigs are more than adequate for unpaved
roads on blm lands, etc. they carry mountain bikes and kayaks to leave the accessible roads…
They can get it plenty remote in 2wd, and lighter vehicle handles better, gets better mileage. The vans are too low and too big for leaving typical FS
and BLM unpaved roads…
Woke!

I have seen at least 2 diesel Sprinters that have had Blue def issues in Southern Baja. It related to a recall for an electronic problem that could
not be fixed down there. One was put on a trailer and hauled out and the other one drove from Cabo to San Diego with out shutting off the engine.
Once there is an issue they give you so many starts and then the system is locked up. A dealer in San Diego had the equipment to fix the issue.

Cool....and do you need to double clutch to downshift to first gear?

They make money off their youtube subscribers. The ads that run on their youtube channels pay them so many cents per hit on their videos.
What I love is when they plunge to their deaths off some cliff, standing on the edge to get the perfect selfie.
