could not find Arroyo El Chile. The canyon at that site is Cañada San Patricio according to INEGI

Your trip reports are so inspiring to me! I've only been back from Baja for 2 weeks now and so ready to go back. My van is being retired so the next
trip will be in a shiny new flatbed camper setup. I'm going to miss the van though as it is the perfect Baja vehicle IMO ....

WOW! One hell of a neat trip report.
2 questions-
Did you fix the track rod before going all the way to SEA? :-)
and-
Does anyone know who or when all the rock art was made?
We have some pictographs in my area that have been dated to about 1200 years ago by what used to be called the Anasazi.
It never ceases to amaze me how early explorers (let alone indigenous peoples) lived and survived in such outwardly inhospitable terrain by our views
today. Even those who eke out a living on ranchos today located way out in the hills and valleys have a sense of survivability that (I venture to say)
no one in the USA would even attempt.

Where did geoffff mention Arroyo El Chino?
I thought you would be excited to see Agua Leon, after all the discussion and mapping of its location here on Nomad. It sure wasn't much to see!
I hope one of us gets to the site of Leon Grande, north and slightly west of Punta Prieta (~15 kms by road). So much was said about it in the book,
Long Walk to Mulegé. |

And yes, it was cool to see images of Agua Leon.

Here is Arroyo el Chile on the INEGI topo: 26.5031315,-112.1246761 (also on the Baja Almanac and Benchmark Baja Atlas.
Google Maps shows a Pinturas rupestres "El Chavalito" at the mouth of that arroyo. About here: 26.539030, -112.122532

I got the idea for this rock art site from Harald, but not the name of the place.
The name I got from my INEGI map -- it is shown as Arroyo el Chile and also Cañada San Patricio. I am open to suggestions for the official name for
this pictograph site!
