Santa Rosalillita off
Driving back from San Juanico yesterday afternoon heading north, I passed the turn off to Santa Rosalillita (Nautical Ladder fame) and they had
graders, backhoes, water trucks dozers and a full road crew working right at the junction/turnoff . The road to Santa Rosaliitta and the junction
area all looked in ggod shape. It seemed like they were working the side areas. Anyone know what's up?

since the road is only paved part way to SR, maybe they are trying to complete it.originally intended for the "ladder" then abandoned-i don't know if
this work is an indication that the "ladder" is back on for SR ,though hopefully, the locals complained about an unfinished road and that is all they
are doing-finishing it(with no intent of establishing the "ladder" there.)

My friends / neighbors were saying that the road work to complete the paving was going to be started in January.
April...Ya, I'd say that makes sense...for the land of menana.
I bet there is a bunch a yatchies up in newport just waiting to have their expensive boats hauled (dragged) over the BOLA.

At the point where the pavement ends, there is a bridge to be constructed, which has been started. They should at least finish the bridge - it would
span a gorge that flows into the valley plain. Also, from the turnoff, and continuing for about 2 miles on both sides of the road, they did some
revegetation, with planted cacti and other plants and trees. Some of them weren't doing too well. Maybe they were tending to those plantings.

A couple of days ago Sudcaliforniano newspaper had a piece on the "megaproyecto Mar de Cortes" (with the escalera nautica mentioned, although it's
been downgraded from caps to lower case letters). FONATUR has announced that the difference between the Mar de Cortes project and those of the 1980s
is that there will be productive alliances with private enterprise.
Six rungs of the escalera are to be operative by autumn of 2006: La Paz, Puerto Escondido, Santa Rosalia, Santa Rosallita, Puerto Penasco and
Mazatlan. In addition, the land bridge from Santa Rosallita and Bahia de Los Angeles will be completed.

i can understand fixing up existing marinas, but this route from Sr to BOLA is ludicrous! it's been said before, by many "yachties" no way would they
trailer their boat across from Sr to BOLA-plus, the numbers just aren't there.not that many venture in their boats to Baja.statistics show that a huge
percentage, something in the high 80's or so, of boat owners don't venture out more than 20 miles or so from their home port.
